Due to the short week, I was only able to get through grading most of the first half from Sunday’s game against the Bucs. Turn On The Jets Film Room – Oday Aboushi: Guard or Tackle?

Mike Nolan steps into the TOJ Film Room to take a look at Rookie OL Oday Aboushi to determine where he might fit in the Jets offense.

If you search the internet for anything about Oday Aboushi, you will find a lot more hits than the typical 5th round pick. Most of the articles are about how he is one of the first Palestinian-Americans to play in the NFL.  The more I read about Oday Aboushi the more impressed I am with him as a person. In fact, he was once honored at the US State Department by Hillary Clinton for being an inspirational Muslim athlete. Now that the dust has settled in the aftermath of the NFL Draft and Jets fans have learned a little bit about who Oday Aboushi is as a person, it is time to figure out who he is as a player and where he might be able to fit in the Jets’ offense.

Turn On the Jets Film Room: Is Brian Winters Ready to Start?

Mike Nolan steps into the film room to take a closer look at Jets’ rookie Brian Winters and how he will fit into the Jets Offense.

During the 2013 NFL Draft, the Jets took a position that was bare and made it very crowded. Considering the constant preaching of competition around the Jets these days, it makes sense that John Idzik would draft Brian Winters, Oday Aboushi, and Will Campbell to be added to a stable of Offensive Guards that could already include Willie Colon, Stephen Peterman, Vlad Ducasse, and Caleb Schlauderaff. Over the next few weeks, TOJ will do some film studies on some of the new Offensive Linemen to see what kind of players they are and how they might fit into the Jets offensive plans (see Colon’s breakdown here). Today we will look at 3rd Round pick Brian Winters. Continue reading “Turn On the Jets Film Room: Is Brian Winters Ready to Start?”

The Film Don’t Lie: Chance Warmack vs. Jonathan Cooper

With experts starting to reexamine who the best OG is in the NFL Draft, Mike Nolan takes a look at the film to break down Chance Warmack and Jonathan Cooper

In this post combine lull, a few draft prognosticators have gone on record to say that Jonathan Cooper is a better OG prospect than Chance Warmack. This is most likely due to Cooper’s excellent combine performance. Sometimes the combine can generate hype in the media that really isn’t prevalent in NFL War Rooms. Considering the Jets’ 2012 starting guards are currently unrestricted free agents and the team could be eyeing up a replacement as high as the 9th pick, let’s look at the tape to see who is really the better prospect.
