Connor Rogers grades the Jets linebackers from there week 15 performance in Carolina.
The Jets had a tough task at hand facing the mobile Cam Newton on Sunday. While an early injury slowed Newton’s scrambling ability, his arm was more than efficient. The inside linebacking duo of Demario Davis and David Harris had arguably their worst game this season. On the other hand, Quinton Coples continues to turn it on in the second half while Calvin Pace refuses to go off into the sunset of washed up veterans. Lets grade the linebackers from week 15. Connor Rogers grades the Jets linebackers from their win over the Raiders.
The Jets pulled off a bounce back win at home against the Oakland Raiders in week 14. After witnessing an anemic offense produce zero touchdowns for two straight weeks, the defense slowly looked gassed. While the win against the Raiders was a step in the right direction, the once impenetrable run defense has taken a step back. They allowed a 63 yard touchdown run to fourth string running back Marcel Reece and let him run for over 120 yards on the day. After an abysmal performance in Buffalo, the Jets needed a bounce back win in Baltimore. Unfortunately for Gang Green, the offense came out quite flat once again. On the flip side, the front seven was dominate and continues to beg their secondary for some help. The Ravens did not exactly light up the scoreboard but an anemic offensive performance from the entire Jets offense gave the team no chance to win. The Jets had two weeks to prepare for the Buffalo Bills after an impressive win over the New Orleans Saints. Sounds like a formula for success, right? Unfortunately, the team had trouble on both sides of the ball all day long on Sunday. One of the few bright spots was the linebackers, a crew that is often overshadowed by the horrendous play of the New York secondary. Lets take a look at how they faired against the Bills on the road. In a half a season full of ups and downs, the Jets have had many positives to take from the linebacker position. More importantly, John Idzik is getting a great grasp on what needs to be done in the upcoming offseason at the position. The front seven continues to shine, as New England was forced to run a pass happy game plan on Sunday. Opponents are struggling to develop a run game against the Jets stout defensive front, helping the secondary key in on an expected passing attack.
