Reaction to the New York Jets 30-20 loss to the Carolina Panthers
The New York Jets were competitive in Carolina today against a superior team. However, as they have done many times this season, they made one mistake too many to steal a victory. Today, it was a blocked punt that helped break the game open for the Panthers and a late game pick six to seal the deal. At 6-8, the Jets are only playing for pride the next two weeks as Rex Ryan fights to keep his Head Coaching job. Continue reading “Initial Reaction – Not Enough, Jets Come Apart Late In 30-20 Loss”
Initial reaction to the New York Jets 37-27 win over the Oakland Raiders, which snapped their three game losing streak
While today was a literal win for the New York Jets, 37-27 over the Oakland Raiders, the more important development was the positive performance of rookie quarterback Geno Smith and rookie cornerback Dee Milliner. Keeping in mind they were playing a mediocre team, the Jets had a strong offensive and special teams performance today, with a disappointing outing defensively. A win is a win and it was nice to see them snap their three game losing streak, especially while putting up nearly twice as many points in a single game than they did the past three games combined.

Initial reaction to the New York Jets no show 23-3 loss to the Miami Dolphins. Another season heads down the drain…
Since week 14 of the 2011 regular season, the New York Jets record under Rex Ryan is 11-20. They have lost 14 of their 31 games by 13 points or more. They’ve sprinkled in a few nice wins but generally they average out to not being a competitive team every other week, in a league filled with parity. Today, for the third straight game after their bye week, the Jets were completely blown off the field, as the Miami Dolphins rolled over them 23-3. Ryan isn’t solely at fault for the team’s problems but we have probably reached the point where it is time to move on.

Joe Caporoso on the New York Jets depressing 19-3 loss to the Baltimore Ravens
The New York Jets effectively set the game of football back 20-30 years today, as they lost to the Baltimore Ravens 19-3. This was an ugly showing from the Jets, particularly on offense where they served an emphatic reminder of their lack of talent on that side of the football.

Initial reaction to the Jets embarrassing loss to the Bills
The New York Jets continued their bizarre, incredibly frustrating season with a 37-14 whipping at the hands of the Buffalo Bills. This is a team that can still find no measure of consistency and yet because of how weak the AFC is on the back end, remain right in the thick of the playoff race.

Initial reaction to the Jets impressive upset victory over the New Orleans Saints, 26-20
The 2013 New York Jets roller coaster swung in a positive direction today with their most impressive win of the season, 26-20 over the previously 6-1 New Orleans Saints. Today was a banner day for Rex Ryan who schemed up a terrific defensive game plan that flummoxed Drew Brees all day, along with Marty Mornhinweg who has an offense that is producing despite featuring a collection of mid-season acquisitions at the pass catching positions. You can start thinking about it Jets fans…the playoffs are on the radar for this team.

Initial reaction to the Jets 49-9 loss to the Bengals
The New York Jets continue to be the NFL’s most inconsistent team. One week after an impressive overtime win against the New England Patriots, they were thoroughly humiliated by the Cincinnati Bengals 49-9. The game was every bit as ugly as the score indicates. The Jets were out-coached and out-classed on both sides of the football.

Initial reaction to the New York Jets 30-27 overtime win over the New England Patriots
The New York Jets had a classic first half against the New England Patriots. Offensively, they turned the football over which directly led to Patriots points. Defensively, they looked unprepared for the hurry up offense. Penalties. Poor special teams. 21-10 New England at the half. It felt like the Jets were on their way to yet another frustrating loss to New England, along with further burial in the AFC East standings.

Initial reaction to the New York Jets frustrating 19-6 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers
Today had all the makings of a trap game and the New York Jets fell right into it against the previously 0-4 Pittsburgh Steelers. With two weeks to prepare and the Jets on a short week after their biggest win of the season, Pittsburgh pushed the Jets around on their own field and out schemed them on both sides of the football. It was a disappointing step back after the progress seemingly made last week. The timing couldn’t have been worse either as the Jets now enter the most difficult 3 game stretch left on their schedule.

Initial reaction to the New York Jets thrilling 30-28 Monday Night win over the Atlanta Falcons
In what was arguably their best regular season win since the beginning of the 2011 season, the New York Jets knocked off the Atlanta Falcons on Monday Night Football, 30-28. Yes, those New York Jets are 3-2. Rex Ryan, the lame duck coach who is just waiting to be fired. Geno Smith, the bum rookie who should be benched for Matt Simms…and the rest of the gang continues to win football games when nobody expects them to. The Football World should have taken notice tonight, the Jets aren’t in the discussion for being the worst team in the league…they may just be in the discussion for a playoff spot come November and December.
