Coach Nolan’s Early Look at Week 2 Betting Lines

Mike Nolan previews this week’s betting lines!

The NFL is back! It’s so great to have fans back in the stadiums. Nothing makes me happier than sitting at a Sports Bar fully vaxxed, drinking transfusions, and watching my bets play out. There was definitely some money to be made in Week 1.  The first couple weeks of the NFL season, you’ll see quite a bit of line movement before Vegas really starts to settle in on their opening lines. Let’s see if there are any early opportunities in Week 2. Let me know who you like this week @CoachNolan64 on twitter.

Patriots at Jets
Line: -5.5 Pats (Open -4)
O/U: 42.5

I know most people reading this site are not going to bet against the Jets.  And I can’t blame you.  I will never bet against my Eagles.  But this line opened at -4 and keeps climbing.  I already put in a 1 unit wager at -4.  With Becton out and the Jets OL already struggling, I could see this line climbing up to 6 or 7 points before kick-off.  The Pats lost a close one to a good Miami team on a late fumble. I could see Bill Belichick making Zach Wilson very uncomfortable in this one.

Bill at Dolphins
Line: +3.5 Dolphins
O/U: 48.5

I see some value in this line and wouldn’t be surprised if it was at least bet down to a field goal as the week goes on.  I think the Dolphins are a really good team and like them to keep this game within a field goal at home. Will see what impact adding Will Fuller to the offense brings. I will probably put a play in today with the +3.5 hook.

Vikings at Cardinals
Line: -3.5 Cardinals (Fanduel)
O/U: 51

I would jump on this line ASAP! Most books have this at -4.5 already. Fanduel still has it at -3.5, but I don’t think it will be there much longer.  The Cardinals looked explosive in their opener on both sides of the ball, blowing out the Titans as a 2.5 point dog. I expect them to do something similar to the Vikings at home, especially if the Vikings start off as slow as they did against the Bengals.

Rams at Colts
Line: -4 (Open -1.5)
O/U: 47.5

This line jumped up to -4/4.5 at some books after the Rams Sunday night dismantling of the Bears. Currently the Rams are seeing 90% of the action.  I would not be surprised if this line keeps climbing to about the -5 range. If you like the Rams in this game, you may want to jump on them now as Road favorites.

Raiders at Steelers
Line: Steelers -5.5 (Open -5.5)
O/U: 48

This line opened at the same number as last weeks look ahead line. I think this may be a buy now opportunity for the Steelers.  Pittsburgh went in to Buffalo and gave Josh Allen and the Bills all kinds of problems defensively. The Raiders won a stunner on Monday Night Football in front of a home crowd for the first time ever at Allegiant Stadium. Going on the road in Pittsburgh feels like a big let down spot.

Chiefs at Ravens
Line: -3.5 Chiefs (Open -2.5)
O/U: 55.5

This line was sitting at -2.5 prior to kickoff last night and spiked a full point after the Ravens lost a wild game to the Raiders on Monday night. I could see this line climbing to -4 at some point this week. I wish I snatched it up at -2.5, but at -3.5 I don’t want to overreact to last night’s result just yet and will wait to see where this line goes throughout the week.  The Ravens will be at home and they do run a style of offense that could keep the game close.

The Rest of the Lines

Line: -3 WFT
O/U: 41

Broncos at Jaguars
Line: Broncos -6 (Open -2.5)
O/U: 45.5

O/U: 48.5

Bengals at Bears
Line: Bears -3 (Open -4)
O/U: 45
