There has been a lot of talk surrounding Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson. Rumors have linked him with several clubs, but NY Jets looks like a more likely destination for him. Many, including punters at BetRivers sportsbook PA, have been left to speculate where the disgruntled QB could be heading, supposing he is traded during the offseason. However, the Jets seem to be one of the best landing spots for Watson.
Renowned sports pundits have discussed the possible destinations for five quarterbacks who could move in the offseason. In their discussions, they suggested that Watson’s best club to move to is the Jets. There is plenty of speculation about this move that it seems it will happen. It is also believed that Robert Saleh and Mike LaFleur’s hiring is one of the main reasons Jets would be a sensible move for Watson. Watson’s capability as a player means he would add value to any team he joined. But, the Jets are believed to have what it takes to make him flourish.
Watson is only 25 and is among five of the best quarterbacks in the league. A year ago, he managed a 92.55 PFF grade, which ranked third among all the league’s quarterbacks. His raw numbers were even more remarkable, with 33 TD, 7 INT, 70% completion. He has managed to have an impressive season despite playing for a terrible Houston team with no help. Patrick Mahomes is arguably the only player that holds more value than Watson in the league.
Watson operated as a one-man army as the Texans stumbled to a 4-12 record in 2020. He led the NFL in passing yards, having managed 4823 and yards per attempt (8.9). He also set a career-high with a 70.2 completion percentage, and 33 touchdown passes against seven picks. He also had an impressive 112.4 passer rating.
All these stats point to a player at the prime of his career and is under contract until 2025. The four-year extension to his contract he signed last September included a no-trade clause. This means that he has leverage in any possible deal. With that in mind, Watson might force a move away from his current team because of the organization’s airheaded conduct. If recent reports by pundits are anything to go by, then Watson’s time in Houston is over. He has also helped fuel the rumors by sharing cryptic messages on his official social media accounts.
Looking at the league’s current clubs, the Jets are the only club that seems to have the desire, financial flexibility, and, more importantly, the assets to seal the deal. For these reasons, many pundits have regarded the Jets as the more practical partner for the Texans.
On the other hand, the Jets will have to work out their plans for the quarterback position. Currently, it is not clear whether they will decide to keep Sam Darnold, or they will look to the draft for his replacement. As it stands, the Jets is the best landing spot for Deshaun Watson, and everyone, including analysts and people around the league, share the same sentiments.
