Initial Reaction – We Wrote This Before The Game

Dalbin Osorio wrote his initial reaction to Jets vs. Dolphins about 2 hours before kickoff. It held up well!

On one sideline stood Adam Gase who, after getting former Jets General Manager Mike Maccagnan fired, oversaw the exodus of former All-Pro LeVeon Bell and defensive cornerstone Safety Jamal Adams. He’s, also, gutted QB Sam Darnold of any confidence he had left all while tailoring his offense around WR Chris Hogan and RB Frank Gore. If there is a deity, he only has 11 weeks left as the Jets Head Coach.

On the opposite sideline stood Dolphins Head Coach Brian Flores who, along with General Manager Chris Grier, tore down the Miami Dolphins by trading LT Laremy Tunsil and Safety Minkah Fitzpatrick while bottoming out and drafting their future franchise QB. By all accounts, this is a Miami team that has been built the right way and who has more picks to really build around their young QB. These two franchises, once rivals, could not be headed in more different directions. This was evident when the Miami Dolphins dropped the Jets to 0-6.

This loss has now propelled the New York Jets to the top spot in the 2021 NFL Draft. Given their ridiculous schedule the rest of the way, Joe Douglas would be smart to trade Jameson Crowder, Bradley McDougald, Marcus Maye, and, yes, even Sam Darnold because Joe Flacco isn’t going to win you any games in the 2020th year of our Lord and savior. Black Jesus is not helping Cool Joe and that much was clear today. Joe Flacco missed receivers and was under duress from a much-improved Dolphins pass rush. He forced throws downfield when he did have time and was intercepted 3 times, two by free-agent signing CB Byron Jones. Frank Gore, absurdly, received 21 carries to Lamical Perine’s 6.

The Jets punted down 13 with 6 minutes to go in the forth. Greg Van Roten solidified himself as a miss for Joe Douglas, and it’s about time we see what Cameron Clark can do. Chris Herndon had 4 catches on 4 targets, but was asked to block on 65% of dropbacks. Trevon Wesco had two carries and two targets. Gregg Williams said that it wasn’t all the defense, but FitzMagic made Gregg’s defense look foolish as they gave up 300 yards through the air. The double teams that Question Mark Williams is allegedly receiving are no excuse for him being manhandled by the Dolphins OL. Pierre Desir? Also a bad signing by Joe Douglas, as Devante Parker and Mike Gisecki WORKED him for 19 combined catches for 170 yards and 4 TDs. The silver lining is that the team is strictly on the Lawrence Speedway. T-minus 11 weeks, Jets fans.
