Initial Reaction – The Loss We Did Not Want But The Loss We Needed

Joe Caporoso with initial reaction to the hopeful end of Adam Gase’s tenure as the New York Jets Head Coach

The New York Jets have hit rock bottom…again. This is after a near decade of finding new rock bottoms in creative, unique and surprising ways. They out did themselves yet again by handily losing a football game to a team who is openly trying to lose every game on their schedule. It may not be fun in the short term but if this leads to the Jets executing the common sense of firing Adam Gase and his entire coaching staff, this loss will be worth it.

We can keep today’s article concise: The Jets are never winning anything of consequence with Adam Gase. Regardless of what happens the rest of this season, it will be a mistake to bring him back in 2020. It is probably even a mistake at this point to keep him the rest of the season as the rate Sam Darnold is regressing. Gase and his patsy Dowell Loggains could have him turned into 2012 Mark Sanchez by December at the rate we are currently going.

Mike Maccagnan was a historically bad General Manager. Adam Gase is the worst coach currently in the NFL. The sooner the Jets flush the sewage tank away from these two, the better. Clean out every hint of Maccagnan on this roster, outside of Sam Darnold who still merits *a little* more patience. Clean out every hint of Gase on this coaching staff. The Jets cannot half measure anything or this turnaround is going to take longer than it already looks like it will.

Jamal Adams is not changing any culture. The Jets should have taken Deshaun Watson or Patrick Mahomes. It is always been the case but it has never been more abundantly clear. Trade him for whatever picks you can get this offseason. Quinnen Williams has miles to go before he can be a difference maker week to week. Get him a different coach to maximize his potential so he isn’t a rich man’s Kyle Philipps. Find Le’Veon Bell a better play caller and offensive line, before he understandably walks off into the abyss. Find someone who can salvage what happened to Sam Darnold this year and get him on the right track alongside Bell, Robby Anderson, Jamison Crowder and Chris Herndon. Go find any and every offensive lineman available.

This “era’ of the Jets football is over. Shoot all your excuses into the sun because we are fully at Kotite 2.0. Fire Frank Pollack. Fire Dowell Loggains. Fire Gregg Williams and all his family members on the coaching staff. Fire Adam Gase. There is nowhere to go but up from here (unless they lose by double digits to the Giants next week…which may happen!).
