The Jets went into Miami with a good opportunity to turn things around against a beatable Dolphins. With rumors that Quincy Enunwa and Robby Anderson were returning to the lineup, the hope was that the Jets offense would finally do something. Maybe we were too optimistic. #JetsTwitter drags us through week 9 in the second division matchup between the Jets and Dolphins.
1st Half
The Dolphins started the game off with the ball and the defense had a great start but immediately a disturbing trend started…punts.
Avery Williamson with the sack on third-and-4 and the #Jets defense holds on the first drive, despite giving up a 26-yard pass on the first play from scrimmage.
— Andy Vasquez (@andy_vasquez) November 4, 2018
Huge third down sack for Avery Williamson, his 3rd of the year, came right up the A gap. Dolphins punt. #Jets
— Joe Caporoso (@JCaporoso) November 4, 2018
The Jets got the ball on offense and…nada.
#Jets go nowhere. They run with Crowell and he goes for a loss. #Jets will punt.
— LoyalNYJetFans (@loyalnyjetfans) November 4, 2018
The following drive, the Jets defense once again got a stop when they needed it. Leonard Williams came up big.
Leonard Williams' turn to make a big play in the backfield and force the Dolphins to punt. Poor field position for the #Jets once again.
— Matt Stypulkoski (@M_Stypulkoski) November 4, 2018
Huge play by Leonard Williams to stop the run and make it 4 & 3 and force the punt right there let's go

The Jets got the ball back on offense and…nope.
No clue how Darnold got this one off. Short of the sticks tho, so the #Jets will punt. pic.twitter.com/Sgg5bdoA12
— Jesse Finver (@JfinverSports12) November 4, 2018
On the next Dolphins drive, the Jets defense once again came up with a quick stop and forced another punt. The Jets offense had another opportunity to get going but…
Terrible, terrible throw from Sam Darnold. And the interception is made worse by Brandon Shell's (very) late hit penalty. Dolphins start in Jets territory.
— Andy Vasquez (@andy_vasquez) November 4, 2018
Kiko Alonso steps in front of Sam Darnold's pass for an interception. Rookie QBs for you.
— Omar Kelly (@OmarKelly) November 4, 2018
The Jets held the Dolphins out of the endzone but Miami did add a field goal to go up 3-0.
Dolphins turn Sam Darnold's INT into points.
Jason Sanders' 43-yard FG gives Miami a 3-0 lead over #Jets with 12:39 left in the second quarter.
— Manish Mehta (@MMehtaNYDN) November 4, 2018
Jets offense got the ball back and…zilch.
Jets false start penalty — this time on Brian Winters. Drink.
— Darryl Slater (@DarrylSlater) November 4, 2018
Brian Winters false start, then Brandon Shell lets Cameron Wake bull rush him right into Sam Darnold. Not a solid couple plays for the right side of the line. #Jets
— Chris Mascaro (@CCMascaro) November 4, 2018
#Jets will punt
— Connor Hughes (@Connor_J_Hughes) November 4, 2018
On the following drive, the Jets defense forced a three and out after a challenge won by Todd Bowles.
The Jets offense got the ball back and I’m running out of languages…
Anderson can't break a tackle on the short crosser and the #Jets will punt again. Darnold 5/7, 44 yards, INT so far…that was first catch for a WR
— Joe Caporoso (@JCaporoso) November 4, 2018
#Jets will punt again.
— LoyalNYJetFans (@loyalnyjetfans) November 4, 2018
The Dolphins then went on a long 14 play, 51 yard drive…that ended in a field goal when the Jets defense somehow didn’t break in the end.
Jets bend but don't break, as the experts say. Dolphins settle for another field goal and a 6-0 lead with 1:16 left in first half.
— Darryl Slater (@DarrylSlater) November 4, 2018
On the following drive, the Jets offense finally got it going and got on the board with a field goal. It was Darnold’s best drive of the game.
#Jets get 20 yards from Darnold to McGuire. He gets out of bounds. Herndon puts them in plus territory and call timeout after completion to Kearse. #NYJvsMIA
— Ethan B. Greenberg (@EGreenbergJets) November 4, 2018
Eli McGuire showing some good things today #Jets
— Connor Hughes (@Connor_J_Hughes) November 4, 2018
Quincy Enunwa's first reception in 3 weeks helps position Jason Myers for 48-yd FG try. It's good. Myers now has hit 15 straight FG tries from 40-49 yards. Jets trail 6-3 w/ 20 seconds left in 1st half.
— Randy Lange (@rlangejets) November 4, 2018
Dolphins 6, Jets 3 at halftime. The Jets start the second half with the ball.
Sam Darnold was 9 of 13 for 89 yards and a pick in the first half. TE Chris Herndon with three catches for 41 yards leads all Jets receivers.— Andy Vasquez (@andy_vasquez) November 4, 2018
2nd Half
The Jets started off with the ball in the second half and anyone that thought the second half would go better than the first was horribly surprised…
The #jets will punt
— Connor Hughes (@Connor_J_Hughes) November 4, 2018
The defense started off well again, holding the Dolphins to only 22 yards on the drive and finishing it off with a sack.
Jordan Jenkins with the third-down sack and the Jets stop the Dolphins on their first drive of the second half.

The next Jets offensive drive, they picked up 1 yard…
I tried to tweet “#Jets will punt” but tweet deck wouldn’t let me because “you’ve already tweeted that today.” Hah
— Connor Hughes (@Connor_J_Hughes) November 4, 2018
#Jets will punt.
— LoyalNYJetFans (@loyalnyjetfans) November 4, 2018
The Jets defense again forced another three and out with a sack, this time it was Attaochu.
Jeremiah Attaochu with his 2nd sack of season, Jets' 4th of the game, Jets defense forces another punt.
— Randy Lange (@rlangejets) November 4, 2018
The Jets defense is playing very well today. Great job here by Attaochu to get the sack#Jets pic.twitter.com/QJGEu8nzLl
— Jesse Finver (@JfinverSports12) November 4, 2018
The #Jets are wasting an overall solid performance by the defense with an offense that is struggling to just get a first down.
— Jim Geraghty (@jimgeraghty) November 4, 2018
The Jets offense actually held the ball for more than 5 minutes on their next drive. But in the end…
Jason Myers misses the 50-yard FG wide right…#Jets still down 6-3. #NYJvsMIA
— Ethan B. Greenberg (@EGreenbergJets) November 4, 2018
And of course Myers, Mr. Steady, misses from 50. The Jets can't do anything right. A sack allowed. Delay penalty. Dropped pass. Just awful. #Jets
— Rich Cimini (@RichCimini) November 4, 2018
Jason Myers misses from 50. He's been close to automatic this season, but not on that one. Terrible job by the offense, which lost 12 yards after getting to the Miami 20. #Jets
— Andy Vasquez (@andy_vasquez) November 4, 2018
Of course, the Jets defense got another stop, forcing another three and out. I’m sure at this point, they were questioning their own existence. Especially after the Jets offense got the ball back and did the following:
*Que the start of the Spencer Long segment*

— Miami Dolphins (@MiamiDolphins) November 4, 2018
High snap from Long. Pick Six from Darnold. That will probably do it.
— Joe Caporoso (@JCaporoso) November 4, 2018
Sam Darnold leads the NFL with 11 interceptions. #Jets
— Jose Perez (@JosePer01955022) November 4, 2018
Darnold just threw a pick six. Snaps have been bad all day (center has a finger issue). So, right when his receivers get back, something else goes awry.
— Jim Sannes (@JimSannes) November 4, 2018
This is on Todd Bowles… again. Why leave Spencer Long in the game? Why??? He's been awful ALL day!! #Jets #NYJvsMIA
— Anthony Rushing Jr. (@TonyRushingNY) November 4, 2018
Spencer Long continued on the following drive…
Spencer Long, holy cow
— Brian Costello (@BrianCoz) November 4, 2018
GET SPENCER LONG OUT OF THERE
— danielle (@bradyskjeidy) November 4, 2018
That may have been Spencer Long’s worst snap of the day. Went right over Darnold’s hand.
— Connor Hughes (@Connor_J_Hughes) November 4, 2018
Todd Bowles was asked a few weeks ago why Spencer Long was still playing despite the terrible snaps. Bowles said the bad snaps hadn't hurt the team up to that point. Will he pull him now?
— Glenn Naughton (@AceFan23) November 4, 2018
#Jets center Spencer Long is horrible.pic.twitter.com/OMOhijITJg
— Dov Kleiman (@NFL_DovKleiman) November 4, 2018
@Jeff_Mans what do the Jets need to see to remove Spencer Long from the game or don't go in the shotgun! He is killing hem!
— Brian Smallhorn (@bigtoot7) November 4, 2018
Jeff doesn’t have all the answers, Brian!
SPENCER LONG, YOURE DRUNK GO HOME
— B (@B_Eynard) November 4, 2018
Spencer Long snapping away Todd Bowles job. #jets
— Chris Blanco (@TophBlanco) November 4, 2018
Somehow, despite Spencer Long and his finger, the Jets managed field goal on their next drive to make a one score game again at 13-6. The Jets needed the defense to make a stop and of course…
#Jets defense comes up with a stop in a big spot, former tank master Mike Pennel with a 3rd and 1 tackle
— Joe Caporoso (@JCaporoso) November 4, 2018
Darnold got the ball back with a new center and a chance to tie it up and…
It's about time: Jonotthan Harrison is in at center now for Spencer Long.
— Ralph Vacchiano (@RVacchianoSNY) November 4, 2018
Jets go for it on 4th and 15 … Sam Darnold throws it right to a defender again. … Three interceptions on the day. Jets are going to lose.
— Ralph Vacchiano (@RVacchianoSNY) November 4, 2018
https://twitter.com/JfinverSports12/status/1059186057441349632
Sam Darnold should have 5 interceptions today.
— Matt Naham (@matt_naham) November 4, 2018
But wait…there’s more!
Jets defense, stop, again.
#Jets defense gets the stop.
Darnold time. He’ll have ~1:40-1:45 & no timeouts to drive the field & score a TD https://t.co/nFKkSfbqLC
— Connor Hughes (@Connor_J_Hughes) November 4, 2018
Jets offense…
4th interception from Darnold on the day. Could have had 2 more if not for drops pic.twitter.com/57yncsdRbx
— Ian Wharton (@NFLFilmStudy) November 4, 2018
Told y’all Darnold wasn’t the guy. 4 INT today and leads the league in interceptions on the season. Turns it over way too much like he did at SC. @JwesCRU1 #NFLSunday #Jets
— Blake Arthur (@BlakeArthurKESQ) November 4, 2018
Uh oh, here they come, folks…
Sam Darnold SUCKS. Either sit him to learn or #FireBowes That was pitiful today
— Deplorable Dregs of Society Member #1 (@TheMetsSuckBOO) November 4, 2018
Nah Sam Darnold just sucks https://t.co/bTLvuvd1HE
— IRISH 9-0 (@daveyy26) November 4, 2018
People saying Sam Darnold had a bad day must not have watched him in college. 4 Interceptions is a good day for him. Throw a fumble in there and that’s par for him.
— brandon cooper (@coopbc) November 4, 2018
Ok Darnold might not be that good I’m sorry giants fans
— Nick Vuylsteke (@Niick_Holas) November 4, 2018
Looks at the schedule
Only 7 more weeks of these rookie year #taeks
