New York Jets 53 Man Roster Prediction – Dalbin Osorio Edition

Dalbin Osorio with his 53 man New York Jets roster prediction before training camp kicks off…

One last prediction for the New York Jets 53 man roster before training camp kicks off, from yours truly. For Joe Caporoso’s click here…

Quarterback (3)

  • Christian Hackenberg
  • Josh McCown
  • Bryce Petty

Why: Christian Hackenberg is more talented than Josh McCown, and in shirts and shorts that should shine enough to give him the edge even if there are some growing pains early on.

Running Back (4)

  • Elijah McGuire
  • Bilal Powell
  • Jordan Todman
  • Julian Howsare

Why: McGuire becomes an early fan favorite and seizes the starting RB position after the Jets trade Matt Forte to a running back needy team or outright release him. Todman sticks due to special teams value.

Tight End (2)

  • Jordan Leggett
  • Brian Parker

Why: Parker and Tomlinson are essentially competing for who keeps their job after Austin Sefarian-Jenkins returns. My money would be on Parker.

Wide Receiver (7)

  • Quincy Enunwa
  • Robby Anderson
  • ArDarius Stewart
  • Chad Hansen
  • Deshon Foxx
  • Lucky Whitehead
  • KD Cannon

Why: The Lucky Seven for Hackenburg includes intriguing playmaking ability and some good vertical speed. Whitehead will be the primary kick returner.

Offensive Line (9)

  • Kelvin Beachum
  • James Carpenter
  • Wesley Johnson
  • Brian Winters
  • Brandon Shell
  • Ben Ijalana
  • Brent Qvale
  • Jonotthan Harrison
  • Javarius Leamon

Why: Leamon is out if they sign Orlando Franklin, but as of today they haven’t. I like Leamon’s skill set as a potential depth option behind Beachum and Shell.

Defensive Line (6)

  • Muhammad Wilkerson
  • Leonard Williams
  • Sheldon Richardson
  • Deon Simon
  • Lawrence Thomas
  • Mike Pennel

Why: Something tells me this is the year Todd Bowles figures out that playing his three monsters in front is the best bet. Simon and Pennel make it over Steve McClendon.

Linebacker (9)

  • Darron Lee
  • Lorenzo Mauldin
  • Jordan Jenkins
  • Dylan Donahue
  • Demario Davis
  • Bruce Carter
  • Spencer Paysinger
  • Freddie Bishop
  • Julian Stanford

Why: Bishop will be the big surprise of training camp, as he and Donahue provide much needed edge rushing for a team that does not get nearly enough pressure off the edge. I’d watch it for Mauldin being a potential cut.

Secondary (10)

  • Morris Claiborne
  • Jeremy Clark
  • Juston Burris
  • Marcus Williams
  • Daryl Roberts
  • Derrick Jones
  • Jamal Adams
  • Marcus Maye
  • Rontez Miles
  • Doug Middleton

Why: Buster Skrine is the surprise cut, as I think Clark and Jones perform well enough to warrant his release.

Specials (3)

  • Chandler Catanzaro
  • Lachlan Edwards
  • Tanner Purdum

Why: No surprises here for me, as I think Chandler Bing Catanzaro returns to form.
