TOJ: New York Jets Running Back Grade Sheet (Week 2)

Dalbin Osorio grades out the New York Jets running backs for week 2

Welcome back to the TOJ New York Jets RB Grade Sheet. Just a reminder that this year we’re doing things a little differently. You will see a letter grade for the team and a letter grade for each running back, along with brief analysis. You will also see what each running back is on pace for after the week’s performance.

Running Back Stats
Rushing Attempts: 30
Yards: 83
Yards Per Carry: 2.7
Receptions: 6
Receiving Yards: 65
Yards Per Catch: 10.8
Total Touches: 36
Total Yards: 148
Yards Per Touch: 4.1
Total Touchdowns: 1

Team Grade: D
Chris Ivory Grade: C-
Chris Johnson Grade: F
Bilal Powell Grade: B
Tommy Bohanon Grade: B

Chris Ivory had an OK day running the ball, as he repeatedly kept his legs moving and was able to turn runs that should’ve netted no gains to 1-3 yard runs. His yards per carry was low at only 3.3, but with more work he could’ve eventually broken one similar to his game against the Raiders. I actually would’ve liked to see Ivory get the carries that went to Chris Johnson, who was terrible on Sunday, both running and as a receiving option out of the backfield. He only caught 1 of his 3 targets and was dropped for no gain. His longest run was 8 yards, but other than that he had 11 carries for 13 yards.

Bilal Powell was effective in a limited role, more in the passing game than the running game. His 4.0 YPC was a team high, but if you remove his 11 yard carry he had 5 yards on 3 carries. However, he had two receptions of 10+ yards and should’ve been used more. Tommy Bohanon had a very good game, as he gained a first down on his lone rushing attempt and had two receptions that netted 30 yards.

Touches Through 2 Weeks/Snaps Breakdown
Chris Johnson: 31 touches, 60 snaps
Chris Ivory: 24 touches, 57 snaps
