TOJ New York Jets Link Dump – September 28th, 2014

Your weekly link dump to help get you ready for kickoff from Joe Malfa

– The matchup I’m most looking forward to in today’s game between the Jets and Lions is Willie Colon vs. Ndamukong Suh. Colon is one of the nastiest offensive linemen in the league, and Suh is one of the nastiest defensive linemen in the league — this matchup won’t be for the feint of heart. Colon spoke earlier this week about the upcoming matchup with Suh. (ESPN)

– This is really stating the obvious, but the Jets’ biggest issue today will be trying to contain Calvin Johnson. The question is, will they be able to contain him at all? I personally don’t think so, that is unless John Idzik signs Optimus Prime to a one-day contract (but that would involve spending money, something Idzik is averse to doing). (RS)

– Containing Megatron would’ve been a bit more doable if the Jets had their top CB, but they probably won’t. Dee Milliner is doubtful for today’s matchup with a quad injury. (ESPN)

– After just three games, there are rumblings among fans to bench Geno and start Vick. Through three games, Geno has completed 63.1% of his passes for 713 yards, three TDs, and four INTs. These numbers aren’t terrible, but the mental errors are unacceptable. Some may believe he’s on a hot seat, but Geno isn’t worried. (DFP)

– Before there is a controversy at QB, there may be one at RB. Chris Johnson isn’t happy with the amount of touches, or lack their of, that he has received through three games. (NFL)

– Here is a preview of the game. (B/R)

– If you’re looking for game predictions, here are a bunch of them — some from a pro-Lions site, and some from a pro-Jets site. As far as my prediction, I say the Jets come out strong in what I believe is a must-win game. Geno will have a bounce-back game, avoid the mental errors, and the team will find a way to win in a close one, 27-21.  (SL/TJP)
