Jets Trade Up For Joe McKnight: Bye Leon Washington?

Obviously the entire draft was going to pass without Mike Tannenbaum making a trade. The Jets gave up their sixth round pick to move up 12 spots in the fourth round to surprisingly take USC running back Joe McKnight.

McKnight is a pretty big name guy, who was a playmaker at one of the nation’s biggest programs the past few years. Last season he had over 1,000 yards rushing and eight touchdowns. McKnight is also a threat catching the football out of the backfield and as a return man.

The real question is now whether the Jets will look to move Leon Washington or they just felt they needed four running backs because of Washington’s health concerns and potential durability questions about Shonn Greene. Regardless, it is clear Mike Tannenbaum loves drafting running backs and it is hard to argue with McKnight’s value in round 4.
