NFL Draft – 2018 QB Prospect Tracker: Week 5

Joe Malfa with his weekly rankings of the top quarterbacks in college football

The writing is on the wall for the New York Jets in 2017. Gang Green is pretty much a lock to land a top-five pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, although the tank took a bit of a turn on Sunday with a win against the Dolphins.

Joe Malfa kept a close eye on the performances of college’s top quarterback prospects this week, since one may very well be the franchise’s savior (or next great bust).

Here are the rankings ahead of Week 5:

Josh McCown Back to Form

Josh McCown is 38 years old. However, even at this age, he is showing signs of life that are hard to ignore. In the game, his signature moment came when he flung a 69-yard bomb towards Roby Anderson. This fling bore a close resemblance to the one Ken O’Brien made to Wesley Walker a while back. His arm suffered no backlash at all. He kept on slinging the ball giving the Jets their first win of this season. This bold piece of play endeared him to both his coach and his teammates.

Initial Reaction – Jets Dominate Dolphins 20-6, Tank In Neutral

Joe Caporoso with initial reaction to the New York Jets 20-6 dominating win over the Miami Dolphins

The New York Jets dominated in their home opener today against the Miami Dolphins, cruising to a 20-6 victory that was not as close as the score looked. This was a clinic in all three phases of the game, particularly on defense where the Jets completely smothered a listless Jay Cutler led Miami Dolphins offense. Considering the talent disparity and how highly regarded Adam Gase is around the league, it is fair to argue this was one of Todd Bowles’ best days at the office as the Jets Head Coach, if not his best.

New York Jets vs. Miami Dolphins Position Comparisons

Greg Armstrong with a positional breakdown of Jets vs. Dolphins

The New York Jets face off in their second divisional matchup in the first three games with the Miami Dolphins coming into town. The Jets are anywhere from six to seven point underdogs depending on where you look and this will be more of a Dolphins home game than a Jets. I’ll take a look at how the teams matchup against one another.  (more…)

NFL Best Bets Against the Spread – Week 3 Edition

Jake Benaquisto with his NFL Best Bets for week 3…

Week 2 Recap: It wasn’t pretty. I went 1-4 against the spread, and my record for the season is now 4-6. The Cardinals are a lot worse than I thought, as it took a Colts collapse in overtime for them to win without covering. Additionally, I made the mistake to take the Vikings +5.5 before the team announced that Sam Bradford was injured. Dallas and New Orleans also lost convincingly, so I’m thankful that Tampa Bay came through for me and covered.
