New York Jets Loss Monday – The Vent, Week 15

Joe Caporoso with a week 15 loss vent on the New York Jets 31-19 defeat to the New Orleans Saints and quarterback purgatory…

The New York Jets suffered their seventh loss in nine games against the New Orleans Saints. It is hard to be distraught about it considering the team’s current situation. They are clearly overmatched to compete in games like this and they hung tough for most of the afternoon, after embarrassing themselves the week before against Denver. The rookie safeties played well, some guy named Xavier Cooper looked like twice the player of Muhammad Wilkerson, rookies Chad Hansen and Elijah McGuire made plays and the offensive line held up well. Yet ultimately the game served as a crippling reminder of how much the Jets have failed at the game’s most important position, quarterback, in recent years.

Initial Reaction – Competitive Tank, Jets Show Up But Can’t Keep Pace With Saints

Joe Caporoso with initial reaction to the New York Jets 31-19 loss to the New Orleans Saints

Unlike last week, the New York Jets showed up ready to play on the road today. Led by their defense, they hung around the superiorly talented New Orleans Saints en route to a 31-19 loss. They forced three turnovers and settled down after a slow start but received no support on the other side of the football from an offense that was largely inefficient, thanks to erratic play from Bryce Petty and conservative play calling. The team is now 5-9 overall and 1-6 on the road.

New York Jets Vs. New Orleans Saints Position Breakdown

Greg Armstrong with a positional breakdown of Jets vs. Saints

The Jets travel to the Bayou to take on the Saints Sunday as 16 point underdogs, the second largest Jets spread in the last 10 years. Nobody expects them to win but it’s a legitimate “no, there is 0% chance you win this game unless the Saints whole team vanishes into thin air”. This one could get very ugly, very quick. I take a look at how the teams match up against each other. (more…)

Week 14 Recap: Once again, I went 4-1 ATS, which puts my record for the season at 39-31. I’m not super confident about a lot of the lines this week, so I’m going with a safe route and sticking with mostly favorites.

Bowl Game Prospect Viewing Guide: New Orleans Bowl and Cure Bowl

Joe Mafla with a prospect preview for the New Orleans Bowl and Cure Bowl, featuring Troy, North Texas, Western Kentucky and Georgia State

‘Tis the season for over 40 college bowl games sponsored by some very obscure companies to celebrate the mediocrity of 6-6 teams. Surely there is an angry old man somewhere waving his fist screaming about how “everyone gets a trophy” and “the Millennials are ruining everything.” At TOJ, we love bowl season. Maybe not for the games because watching Western Kentucky against Georgia State is not very appealing, but it gives us a chance to watch some teams that we did not get a chance to watch this season and evaluate some prospects who may not have been regularly exposed to us.

The Head Coach Checklist – New York Jets 2018 Candidates

Edward Gorelik with a checklist for finding a successful NFL Head Coach and lists prospective candidates who could replace Todd Bowles…

Let’s imagine Todd Bowles is fired at the end of the season. More surprising and quicker firings have occurred in the NFL. Bowles claim to his job right now is “the team isn’t as bad as everyone expected” and that may not be enough to keep the chair from falling out as a few Bryce Petty and Christian Hackenberg weeks await us. Which names pass a basic checklist that we can get hyped for, if he were replaced?  (more…)

New York Jets Jets, Three Up/Three Down – Week 15 Edition

Mike Nash goes three up/three down on the New York Jets heading into week 15…

Remember when everything was great just one week ago when the New York Jets beat the Chiefs?

After Sunday’s brutal effort against a lousy Broncos team, the Jets slim playoff hopes are officially shattered.

With the horrendous display of football that was played on Sunday, there really is nobody that deserves to be on the “3 up” list this week, but as they say, the show must go on, so here we go:
