TOJ: Week 10 NFL Gambling Advice and Picks

Week 10 has arrived and I finally put together a great week last week, going 8-4-1 total. The week would have been even better had I put the article out on Sunday morning like I’m doing this week because then I would have been able to include two picks I changed my mind on with the Vikings and the Eagles. Oh well, I’ll still take the solid week and hopefully we can build on that going forward and end the season with a bang. I’m feeling pretty good about a few games this week, and others not so much. Let’s see how it goes… Continue reading “TOJ: Week 10 NFL Gambling Advice and Picks”

TOJ Stock Watch: Ranking the New York Jets Roster

With the Jets being on bye this week after a 5-4 start to the season, it’s time to look ahead to the second half of the season and start thinking about what we can expect going forward. As much fun as it is to point out how the Jets have already exceeded the expectations of all the “experts” out there, what’s even more fun is to look at some of the players on this roster and envision where this group is headed. So that’s exactly what I’m doing with this week’s Stock Watch: I’m rating the roster from top to bottom based on what I expect from them the rest of the season. TOJ Week 9 Stock Watch & Gambling Advice

I can’t be the only person out there who thinks this NFL season needs to slow down, can I? I mean, it’s November and week 9 has arrived. It seems like just yesterday everyone was having their fantasy football drafts and anxiously awaiting week 9 to arrive, right? It can’t really be that long ago that I had visions in my head of dominating the NFL season and making a mockery of the point spreads the geniuses in Vegas came up with. Well, 9 weeks later and here we are. The season is half over and while my picks have been better of late, the season has been pretty terrible overall. The tide is turning though. I can feel it. This is the week! Continue reading “TOJ Week 9 Stock Watch & Gambling Advice”

TOJ Week 8 NFL Gambling Advice & Picks

Well another week has come and gone, and another losing week is in the books, as I finished week 7 a disappointing 7-8. But don’t worry, I think this is the week we turn it all around! Six teams are on bye this week, which means there are 3 less games to pick, so I’m gonna go ahead and say that means I’m able to focus more on the games that are being played and deliver a winning week! Besides, this is the first week I’m posting this column on Sunday instead of Saturday, so perhaps the change in days will be good. Ok, you’re right.. it probably won’t matter at all. Oh well. Let’s get started. Continue reading “TOJ Week 8 NFL Gambling Advice & Picks”

TOJ: Week 7 NFL Gambling Advice

Week 7 of the NFL season has arrived and that can only mean one thing around these parts – more losing picks provided by yours truly! But fear not, loyal readers, I’ve made some changes to my strategy this week and I can feel a big week coming. I’ve picked a few games that I feel strongly about myself and for the rest that I have no feel on, I’ve resorted to finding the opinions of some of the NFL pundits whose thoughts I value the least (like Mike Florio, for example) and went against them. That means it’s winning time! Let’s get to it…  Continue reading “TOJ: Week 7 NFL Gambling Advice”

TOJ Stock Watch: Patriots Week

It’s Patriots week! Sure, the New York Jets are coming off a terrible performance just a week ago at home against Pittsburgh to drop them to 3-3, but all Jets fans should be excited for Patriots week. Sure, all the stats and trends point towards the Pats blowing the Jets out, as they always seem to do in the second matchup of the season (last year involved the infamous “buttfumble” on Thanksgiving), but there is reason for hope this week, as the extremely banged up Patriots roll into the Meadowlands. A Jets win would bring them to within one game of the division lead, and the playoffs would start to look like a legit possibility. Let’s get to buying and selling all things Jets as we look forward to Sunday… Continue reading “TOJ Stock Watch: Patriots Week”

TOJ Week 6 NFL Gambling Advice

Can you believe it’s already Week 6 of the NFL season? Man oh man, it sure is flying by. We haven’t quite gotten off to the start I was looking for here through five weeks, but before you know it you’ll look up and say “Wow it’s already week 12?!” and you’ll check my record here to see things have turned around in a big way…. Ok, maybe not, but I’m gonna give it my best shot anyway. It’s the point in the season where you can start to get a read on some teams, so hopefully that helps going forward. Let’s get rolling. TOJ Stock Watch: New York Jets vs. Steelers Edition

TOJ Buying and selling all things New York Jets as they get ready to face the Pittsburgh Steelers

As we all know by now, the Jets sit at 3-2 after five weeks and are hosting the Pittsburgh Steelers this week in what is shaping up as a huge game. The Steelers may be winless, but they’re coming off a bye and are still a scary foe. If the Jets win, they could be playing the Patriots the following week with first place in the division on the line, which is still a little bit surreal to even think about. But let’s not look past the Steelers in what should definitely be a tight game and a great test for Geno Smith and his Jets. Let’s go ahead and do some buying and selling… Continue reading “TOJ Stock Watch: New York Jets vs. Steelers Edition”

TOJ: Hey Idzik, Extend Rex Now

Coming into the 2013 season, a popular narrative around the football world was that Rex Ryan was on the hot seat and would be gone in 2014. Hell, many people thought he would be the first coach fired during the season. Some incredibly even called for him to be fired during the PRE-season! According to all these experts, the writing was on the wall: There was a new GM in town who couldn’t possibly want Rex to stay around, and the embattled coach was saddled with a terrible team that had no chance to win enough games for him to keep his job. We heard it all. “Circus… Buffoon… Dead Man Walking…” Well not only did Rex show that he shouldn’t be fired, he’s shown that the Jets should go ahead and give him a contract extension. Not after the season; Now.  Continue reading “TOJ: Hey Idzik, Extend Rex Now”
