Turn On The Jets 12 Pack, Week 9 Edition

Joe Caporoso with predictions for Jets vs. Saints

The New York Jets have just finished one of the most up and down, inconsistent half seasons in recent football history. At 4-4, they have exceeded expectations to an extent but the manner of their four losses has taken some of the luster off their .500 record. Before the season, I picked the Jets to be a 7-9 team and still wouldn’t be surprised if they finished with that record however I do think they have a look of being a game or two better than that considering their second half schedule.

New York Jets Halfway Point Observations

Joe Caporoso with some halfway point observations on thew New York Jets

After watching the Jets/Bengals game tape…which was just as awful as you’d expect, I’ve now had the chance to see the first eight games both live and through Game Rewind. Here is one man’s observations and thoughts through the first half of the season.

Initial Reaction – Burn The Tape. Jets Embarrassed by Cincinnati

Initial reaction to the Jets 49-9 loss to the Bengals

The New York Jets continue to be the NFL’s most inconsistent team. One week after an impressive overtime win against the New England Patriots, they were thoroughly humiliated by the Cincinnati Bengals 49-9. The game was every bit as ugly as the score indicates. The Jets were out-coached and out-classed on both sides of the football.

Turn On The Jets 12 Pack, Week 8 Edition

The Turn On The Jets 12 Pack with predictions for Jets vs. Bengals

The New York Jets record after a win this season is 0-3. Their record after a win last season was 1-5, including the least impressive two game winning streak in NFL history when they beat Ryan Lindley and the Cardinals 7-6 and the Jacksonville “Only The Tarps Are Watching” Jaguars 17-10. It is about time the Jets string together a pair of impressive wins and the schedule has now presented a perfect opportunity for it with a trip to Cincinnati to face the 5-2 Bengals.

Initial Reaction – Finally! New York Jets Get Overdue Win Against Pats

Initial reaction to the New York Jets 30-27 overtime win over the New England Patriots

The New York Jets had a classic first half against the New England Patriots. Offensively, they turned the football over which directly led to Patriots points. Defensively, they looked unprepared for the hurry up offense. Penalties. Poor special teams. 21-10 New England at the half. It felt like the Jets were on their way to yet another frustrating loss to New England, along with further burial in the AFC East standings.

Turn On The Jets 12 Pack, Week 7 Edition

The Turn On The Jets 12 Pack with predictions for New York Jets vs. New England Patriots in week 7

You’ll have to excuse my skepticism about the New York Jets chances this Sunday. No Vince Wilfork. No Jerod Mayo. No Aqib Talib. No Danny Amendola. No Shane Vereen. And on and on. I’ve seen this movie before. 2008? No Brady…Jets still lost at home. Back in week 2? Pats were all sorts of banged up…Jets still lost. I know we had the good times (and the bad times) in 2009 and 2010 but the past five meetings have been ugly for the Jets against the Patriots.

New York Jets – Can They Break Ugly Patriots Regular Season Trend?

The 2nd match-up of the regular season against the New England Patriots has been a nightmare for the New York Jets under Rex Ryan. Can they break the trend?

Since Rex Ryan has taken over as Head Coach of the New York Jets in 2009, there have been a few ongoing trends with the team. They generally play very good defense that can be shaky at holding leads late. Offensively, they prefer to run the football and have had ongoing inconsistencies. Rex owns Buffalo. Miami owns Rex. New England? Boom or bust. They’ve had their good moments but when it is bad, it has been really…really bad and those nightmare performances have always been in the team’s second regular season meeting.
