Initial Reaction – Jets Set Game Of Football Back Decades, Lose 19-3

Joe Caporoso on the New York Jets depressing 19-3 loss to the Baltimore Ravens

The New York Jets effectively set the game of football back 20-30 years today, as they lost to the Baltimore Ravens 19-3. This was an ugly showing from the Jets, particularly on offense where they served an emphatic reminder of their lack of talent on that side of the football.

Turn On The Jets 12 Pack, Week 12 Edition

The bizarre 2013 season of the New York Jets continues this Sunday in Baltimore, where they will face the defending Super Bowl champion Ravens who are currently 4-6. Despite the Jets having a one game better record, most are assuming the Jets are walking into a buzzsaw.

New York Jets – Put Away The Pitchforks, The Jury Is Still Out

Joe Caporoso on why New York Jets fans should temporarily put away the pitchforks and stop the massive amounts of panic

Throughout the off-season, the New York Jets began the process of rebuilding their roster. This was a needed process considering their salary cap and roster situation after the 2012 season. Expectations for this year were tempered or at least should have been tempered. The Jets didn’t have the makings of the league’s worst team but even an optimist should have seen the ceiling for this team as hovering around .500 and playing relevant December games.

Turn On The Jets 12 Pack, Week 11 Edition

Joe Caporoso with 12 predictions for Jets/Bills this Sunday

The New York Jets put together one of their most productive bye weeks in recent memory. By not playing, they tightened their grip on the final playoff spot in the AFC. It sounds comical but it is true. The Tennessee Titans, who hold a tie-breaker over them, lost to the previously win-less Jacksonville Jaguars and then fell again last night to the Indianapolis Colts. At 4-6, with road trips still left to Denver and Indy, they seem to be out of the mix, especially with starting quarterback Jake Locker suffering a season ending injury.

New York Jets Sign Safety Ed Reed

The New York Jets signed safety Ed Reed, boosting their secondary depth and leadership

The New York Jets signed veteran safety and future Hall of Fame safety Ed Reed today. Once Reed passed through waivers, clearing him of his Houston contract this move was only a matter of time. Despite his struggles with the Texans, this season, Reed will immediately improve the Jets secondary depth and bring leadership to the back end of their defense.

New York Jets Second Half Offensive Deep Dive

Joe Caporoso with a deep dive on the New York Jets offense heading into the second half of the season

The New York Jets have put together a surprisingly productive nine games on offense this season. No, the statistical numbers aren’t impressive (11th in rushing yards, 26th in passing yards, 21st in total offense and 27th in points per game) but remember what their personnel is. This a team with a rookie second round quarterback, an extremely beat up and thin group of tight ends and receivers, a running back group that is just now rounding into shape and a slightly above average at best offensive line. When they’ve been bad, they’ve been really bad which has hurt their statistics but they answered the bell for 30 points in upset wins over Atlanta and New England, along with 27 points in last week’s upset over New Orleans. What have we seen so far and what can we expect over their final seven game playoff push?

Turn On The Jets 12 Pack, Week 9 Edition

Joe Caporoso with predictions for Jets vs. Saints

The New York Jets have just finished one of the most up and down, inconsistent half seasons in recent football history. At 4-4, they have exceeded expectations to an extent but the manner of their four losses has taken some of the luster off their .500 record. Before the season, I picked the Jets to be a 7-9 team and still wouldn’t be surprised if they finished with that record however I do think they have a look of being a game or two better than that considering their second half schedule.
