New York Jets RB Mike Goodson – A Quick Refresher

A quick refresher on New York Jets RB Mike Goodson, who will rejoin the team this week

The New York Jets will be boosted this week by the return of running back and kick returner Mike Goodson. After being signed in the off-season to a three year contract, Goodson was suspended for the first four games for violating the NFL’s policy and program for substances of abuse.

Despite Bilal Powell’s terrific start (66 carries, 292 yards, 11 receptions, 108 yards), the Jets could badly use Goodson’s speed and explosiveness on both offense and special teams. They have been one of the worst return teams in football and are thin at running back with Chris Ivory nursing a hamstring injury. Powell is a very effective inside runner but Goodson should be able to bring some punch on outside runs and in the screen game.

Here is a quick refresher on his game and what he could bring to the table.

Turn On The Jets 12 Pack, Week 4 – Jets vs. Titans

The Turn On The Jets 12 Pack gives predictions for Jets vs. TItans

The New York Jets have turned a few heads with their early season victories over the Tampa Bay Bucs and Buffalo Bills. They entered the season with low expectations that were exaggerated by many who had them pegged as a 2-4 win team. A closer look at the roster revealed a defense that was likely to be among the league’s best, a coach who has repeatedly got the most out of his talent and an offense that could have the potential for a few breakthrough performances. The Jets might not have projected to a playoff team but they certainly didn’t project to be among the league’s worst teams.

Initial Reaction – New York Jets Stuff Stat Sheet, Move To 2-1

Initial Reaction to the New York Jets 27-20 win over the Buffalo Bills

If you have been watching the New York Jets for a prolonged period of time, you know certain statistical days rarely happen. 300 yard passers. 100 yard receivers. 100 yard rushers. 5+ sacks in a single game…these things just don’t happen all that often. 20 penalties? Now that sounds a little more believable.

New York Jets Should Trade Kyle Wilson

Joe Caporoso on why the New York Jets should trade Kyle Wilson

In 2010, the New York Jets selected cornerback Kyle Wilson in the first round of the NFL Draft. The hope was that Wilson would further fortify a stacked group of corners alongside Darrelle Revis and Antonio Cromartie, along with provide some electricity in the return game. Unfortunately, Wilson is currently in his 4th season and the light hasn’t went on yet. He has provided nothing as a returner and is an average at best third corner. It might seem like an odd suggestion to some, especially with rookie Dee Milliner’s early struggles but the Jets should work to trade Wilson before this season’s trade deadline. Here’s why:

Initial Reaction – Opportunity Missed, New York Jets Lose Ugly To Pats

Initial reaction to the New York Jets disappointing loss to the New England Patriots, 13-10

Before the season, many reasonable people would have signed up for the New York Jets being 1-1 after two games, with a 13-10 loss in New England on a short week. However, that doesn’t ease the immediate sting of losing a very winnable game to your rivals. Tonight’s game was there for the taking but the Jets made one too many mistakes and not enough plays. Turnovers. Dropped passes. Questionable play calls. Blown coverages. No loss to New England is easy to stomach but the Jets had a real chance to be 2-0 tonight and they missed it.

Turn On The Jets 12 Pack, Week 2 – Jets vs. Pats

The Turn On The Jets 12 Pack with predictions for Jets vs. Patriots

The results of week 1 in the NFL frequently lead to harsh overreactions of both the positive and negative manner. You never want to invest too much into a single game. The Philadelphia Eagles may not score 2,000 points this season, for example. David Wilson will probably fumble less than 30 times in 2013…probably. The defending Super Bowl Champs aren’t heading to a 2-14 year where they allow 50 points on a weekly basis. As for our New York Jets, there is reason for tempered optimism.
