The New York Jets currently have the 9th pick in the first round of the NFL Draft. There is speculation swirling that they could also end up with the 13th pick via a trade of Darrelle Revis, yet for now let’s just focus on their definite, singular first round pick. Here are 9 names that make sense for the Jets either with their 9th pick or via a trade down with the 9th pick as the centerpiece. Continue reading “New York Jets NFL Draft – 9 Players For #9”
The 2009 and 2010 NFL Draft is why the New York Jets are rebuilding right now and show the importance of this year’s NFL Draft
To help understand why the New York Jets are in a position where rebuilding is a necessity, it doesn’t take much more than a look at the team’s draft picks from 2009 and 2010. Similar to how strong draft classes in 2006 and 2007 built contenders in 2009 and 2010, poor draft classes in 2009 and 2010 built teams that weren’t playoff caliber in 2011 and 2012, and ultimately need to be rebuilt from the ground up in 2013. Joe Caporoso muses on the New York Jets after an extended weekend in Las Vegas during March Madness
There is nothing cool about telling somebody you are a New York Jets blogger. When I first met my girlfriend a few years back she would introduce me to her various family and friends by saying this was her boyfriend “the Jets blogger who lives at home with his parents” – so basically this…

The New York Jets have bolstered their pass rush by signing outside linebacker Antwan Barnes
The New York Jets bolstered their pass rush and improved their currently shaky depth at outside linebacker by signing former San Diego Charger Antwan Barnes. This has been a long rumored move as Barnes has experience in Rex Ryan’s defense from the 2007 and 2008 season when both were in Baltimore. The Jets had expressed interest in Barnes in previous years but were never able to get the deal done.

Turn On The Jets with a preview of how the New York Jets could handle free agency, which begins on March 12th – Version 1.0
NFL free agency kicks off on March 12th, only 8 days from today. The New York Jets are not expected to be overly active considering their salary cap situation. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, considering how the team has been run in previous years, they need to sit out the first wave of overpaid free agents and settle for 2nd and 3rd tier players who they can get at bargain rates. The focus for this team needs to be on building through the NFL Draft. Regardless, there will be some measure of activity from the Jets in the coming months, here is the first version of our round-up heading into next week

The New York Jets rumor mill is producing nothing but overreactions and bad jokes with no long term perspective in mind
Gregg Rosenthal of NFL.com appropriately called making fun of the New York Jets our “fifth national sport” this morning on Twitter. At this point, it doesn’t matter what rumor the team is associated with or how flimsy that information is, the only object of every beat writer and major NFL writer is to sprint to the keyboard and fire off a snarky Tweet preceded by “LOLZJETS…AMIRITE?” Context isn’t important, looking at the broader picture isn’t important and certainly common sense isn’t important.
