New York Jets Begin Preparations For Week One

The New York Jets have began the process of trimming their roster to 53 players and we haven’t seen any surprises yet, here is running list of cuts as of right now, which we will keep updated throughout the day, the depth chart is also updated —

  • S – Davon Morgan
  • TE – Keith Zinger
  • OL Nevin McCaskill
  • LB – Joey LaRoque
  • RB – Chris Jennings
  • OL – Dennis Landolt
  • OL – Pete Clifford
  • OL – Zane Taylor
  • WR – Dan DePalma
  • WR – Michael Campbell
  • LB – Eddie Jones
  • DL – Lorenzo Washington
  • S – Byron Landor
  • LB – Brashton Satele
  • QB – Drew Willy
  • OL – Trevor Canfield
  • WR – Scotty McKnight
  • CB – Ellis Lankster

The report on WR Logan Payne is that he will be out 6-8 weeks with a wrist injury and there is a chance the Jets will hold a spot on the active roster for him. Backup quarterback Greg McElroy dislocated his thumb last night, had surgery this morning, and is now expected to miss several weeks, providing the Jets even more incentive to look for a veteran backup.

Considering how generally awful Vladimir Ducasse continued to be, the Jets must add a veteran offensive lineman. I’d be shocked if somebody isn’t signed by the end of the weekend. It would be insane to go into the season with the Jets current depth on the offensive line.

I don’t have much reaction from last night, outside of that it was encouraging to see Aaron Maybin play his way on the roster and discouraging that both Joe McKnight and Bilal Powell struggled.
