The New York Jets have traded Darrelle Revis
A long anticipated trade was finally acted on today as the New York Jets traded cornerback Darrelle Revis to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for a 2013 first rounder (13th overall) and a conditional 2014 fourth round pick that moves to a third rounder if Revis is still on Tampa on the 3rd league day of the 2014 season. Revis also signed a new 6 year, 96 million dollar contract with Tampa, which comes out to 16 million per year. However, none of the money is guaranteed. We have discussed our feelings on the potential of this trade previously (here, here, here, here and here among other places), but here is our thoughts now that the deal is confirmed and the compensation is known.

The New York Jets have no need to rush anything when it comes to handling Darrelle Revis
“As The Revis Turns” has recently been spiced up by another round of media placements courtesy of Neil Schwartz and Jonathan Feinsod, who at this point should be paid as part-time writers at Pro Football Talk, Yahoo Sports and the New York Daily News. At the center of the most recent controversy is the New York Jets enforcing Darrelle Revis attend voluntary workouts in Florham Park to collect bonus money on his contract. Yet, the real story is the false sense of urgency attempting to be created by Revis’ side who appears to be growing increasingly desperate.

Turn On The Jets writers Joe Caporoso and Chris Gross sort out the Darrelle Revis media game, with help from Jason Cole of Yahoo Sports
The following article is written by Joe Caporoso and Chris Gross
The primary purpose of this website is to provide coverage of the New York Jets that avoids the headline-chasing garbage that has diminished the quality of work done by credentialed writers surrounding the team. A secondary purpose is to call BS when we see poor excuses for journalism or when there is a clear media strategy in place motivating articles.
Darrelle Revis’ most recent contract standoff with the Jets has provided a flood of these articles, with TEAM REVIS (Neil Schwartz, Jon Feinsod, John Geiger and company) clearly being the sourcing on pieces like this by Jason Cole and Manish Mehta.

Since the beginning of the new league year this past Tuesday, rumors have been swirling, speculating trade partners for New York Jets Cornerback Darrelle Revis. It has been the common train of thought that Revis will inevitably be moved at some point this offseason, for the Jets cannot afford to pay him an astronomical annual salary and could risk losing him for nothing more than a 2015 compensatory draft pick if he signs with another club after the 2013 season.

Revis to the Patriots is not funny
The Daily News published an image of Darrelle Revis in a Pats jersey last week. As it made an extreme point of what could happen if #24 remains a Jet through 2013 and was free to choose his own team in 2014. Not funny.
Certain photos are simply tasteless, and serve no purpose other than to shock and sell papers. Revis in Patriot blue is one of those, We are still waking up in cold sweats at the thought of that horrific image. Continue reading “No Huddle – Welcome To March Edition”
