First, we talk with Jake to get a look at Davis’ Cal days as we hear about the Safety’s beginnings as a walk-on in both football and track, what he is like as a person including his relationship with his parents, Davis’ ongoing development as a player, what it was like to get to know and watch Davis up close and see his speed on full display, the relationship between the young Safety and his coaches, teammates and local community, and whether or not Davis would be a good fit in New York.

Then Travis joins the show to talk about Mann including the punter’s early desires to be a linebacker and how that still factors into the way he plays, the recruitment process that led him to Texas A & M, his ascension from kickoff specialist to NCAA record breaking punter, rare leadership qualities for a punter that led to him being voted a team captain, how he would fare in adjusting to New York, likelihood of him reaching the expectations talent evaluators have for him at the NFL level, and much more!

Initial Reaction – New York Jets Select S Ashtyn Davis

In what’s really their first surprise pick of the 2020 NFL Draft, the New York Jets selected S Ashtyn Davis from California with the 68th overall pick. Davis is the first defensive pick of the draft for the Jets and was expected by many to go in the second round. The question now is: where does he play in Gregg Williams defense?
