Initial Reaction – Hell Yes! Jets Top Pats In OT, Control Playoff Destiny

Joe Caporoso with initial reaction to the New York Jets 26-20 overtime victory against the New England Patriots, which put them in position to make the AFC Playoffs with a week 17 win

The New York Jets won in thrilling fashion today in overtime against the New England Patriots, 26-20 in an electric, playoff like atmosphere at MetLife Stadium. Despite losing a two touchdown second half lead, the Jets rallied to take advantage of a rare, foolish coaching decision by Bill Belichick, who decided to kick off in overtime after winning the toss. The Jets promptly went 80 yards for the game winning score on six plays, capped by Eric Decker cooking Malcolm Butler on a slot fade route for the win. Thanks to an unexpected Baltimore Ravens win over the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Jets now control their playoff destiny heading into week 17.

New York Jets vs New England Patriots: The Story Lines, Christmas Edition

Anthony Cappuccino with the top storylines for Jets vs. Patriots in week 16…

This Sunday could be the biggest Jets game played at Metlife since their victory against the Patriots in Week 2 of the 2010 season. The Jets need to win their next two contests to have a legitimate shot at reaching the postseason for the first time since 2010.  Gang Green comes into Sunday’s matchup relatively healthy, while the Patriots arrive limping in.  In their matchup earlier this year in Week 7, the Jets were arguably a Brandon Marshall drop away from escaping Foxboro with a victory.  Here are your Christmas Edition Story Lines…

The 2015 New York Jets Christmas List

Joe Malfa with his 2015 New York Jets Christmas List…

Dear Santa,

I know the Jets have been on the naughty list over the past few years, but they have finally turned the corner this year — they’re 9-5 with a chance to make the playoffs! Now, Mr. Kringle, since they have been so good, I think the Jets deserve to be on the nice list this year (well, maybe everyone but Sheldon Richardson), which means they should get some really nice gifts over the next few months. With that being said, here is my wish list for the New York Jets:

Jets vs. Patriots: A Season Changing Moment, A Chance For Redemption

Joe Caporoso with a deep dive into a moment that may have changed the New York Jets 2015 season and how it relates to Sunday’s season defining match-up with the New England Patriots

It is hyperbolic to over emphasize the importance of a single play in a NFL season comprised of sixteen games. A single moment should not have a multi week ripple impact that alters the course of an entire year. Pinpointing the moment or even game that was a turning point or season defining is an inherently subjective process than can often be narrative serving. This doesn’t mean there can’t be truth in the hunt for such a moment or there aren’t exceptions.
