I’m coming off a good week here with my NFL Gambling column and I’m just about even on the season, which is pretty darn good considering how terribly I started. This is a tough week of games to predict here, but there are a couple I really like. One thing is for sure, however: Expect the unexpected. That’s just the way the NFL works at this point in the season, so don’t be surprised to see some crazy stuff today… Continue reading “TOJ Week 15 NFL Gambling Advice and Picks”
Week 13 was a pretty crappy schedule from top to bottom and I didn’t have a very good read on it, so I consider myself lucky to have finished 7-8-1 on the week. This week I feel much better about my chances to have a big week and there are actually a few games I absolutely love. Like, love a lot. Love almost as much as Jeff Cumberland loves dropping passes… ok, well maybe not that much. Let’s got on with the show. Continue reading “TOJ Week 14 NFL Gambling Advice and Picks”
Back in my week 1 gambling article, I said that we would all blink and before we knew it week 13 would be here. Well, week 13 is here and it sure does seem like this season has flown by, doesn’t it? On the bright side, I’m coming off my best week of the season picking games so far as I went 10-4 and 4-1 on my best bets in week 12. In fact, the past four weeks have been great in general and I’m almost back over .500 for the season. It’s kind of depressing that I’m on such a hot streak and still under .500 but whatever, that can’t bring me down. I’m feeling great about this week and looking to keep it rolling along. Let’s get to it… Continue reading “Week 13 NFL Gambling Advice and Picks”
Well, that hot streak sure was fun while it lasted. Then week 11 happened and crushed me in a monster way. I went just 5-8-2 and even worse, lost what I called my favorite pick of the season so far as the Patriots lost to the referees — uhh, I mean the Panthers on Monday night. Actually, it’s not really fair to say the refs cost them that game (even though they did) because the Patriots pretty much beat themselves. Their secondary is the gold standard when it comes to proving that Pro Football Focus is merely a tool and not the gospel when it comes to grading football players because despite their high rankings, they are pretty crappy, and Fumbles Ridley is just a horrible player. Can you tell I’m still bitter about that game? Let’s just move on to week 12… Continue reading “TOJ Week 12 NFL Gambling Advice and Picks”
Week 11 has arrived and so has my long-awaited picks hot streak! I told you it couldn’t stay that bad forever, and in the last two weeks thinks really started to heat up for me… which probably means I’m do for a massive disappointment and a 1-14 week or something like that. But let’s try to avoid all that and ride this hot streak at least one more week. In the past two weeks I’m 17-8-1 and Best Bets are 7-3. And yes that’s me puffing out my chest and patting myself on the back. Deal with it! Let’s get on with the show… Continue reading “TOJ Week 11 NFL Gambling Advice and Picks”
Did everybody have a nice bye week? The Jets sure did, just look at the results across the AFC since the last time they’ve played a game. The Dolphins brought the circus to town and are in the middle of a ridiculous hazing scandal which effectively ruined their season, the Titans lost to the winless Jaguars (and then again last night), and the Bills lost in Pittsburgh. And to add to that, the Jets are adding Kellen Winslow, Santonio Holmes, and some guy named Ed Reed to the roster this week. So why does this week’s game in Buffalo scare the hell out of me? Let’s do some buying and selling… Continue reading “TOJ Stock Watch: Jets vs. Bills II Edition”
The New York Jets are coming off of their bye week now entering the stretch run in full control of their playoff destiny. Thanks to the Jacksonville Jaguars upset win over the Tennessee Titans in Week 10, the road appears quite easier for Gang Green. With 7 games remaining in the regular season, the Jets schedule becomes much more manageable than it was during the first half of the season as they face only one team with a .500 or better record (the week 15 match up against the Carolina Panthers). Let’s look at the updated playoff picture heading into Week 11.
Week 10 has arrived and I finally put together a great week last week, going 8-4-1 total. The week would have been even better had I put the article out on Sunday morning like I’m doing this week because then I would have been able to include two picks I changed my mind on with the Vikings and the Eagles. Oh well, I’ll still take the solid week and hopefully we can build on that going forward and end the season with a bang. I’m feeling pretty good about a few games this week, and others not so much. Let’s see how it goes… Continue reading “TOJ: Week 10 NFL Gambling Advice and Picks”
With the Jets being on bye this week after a 5-4 start to the season, it’s time to look ahead to the second half of the season and start thinking about what we can expect going forward. As much fun as it is to point out how the Jets have already exceeded the expectations of all the “experts” out there, what’s even more fun is to look at some of the players on this roster and envision where this group is headed. So that’s exactly what I’m doing with this week’s Stock Watch: I’m rating the roster from top to bottom based on what I expect from them the rest of the season.
