TOJ New York Jets Film Breakdown – Le’Veon Bell’s 2017 Season

Joe Blewett with a film breakdown of Le’Veon Bell’s 2017 season with the Pittsburgh Steelers

Prior to the Le’Veon Bell film review I really wanted the Jets to sign Bell. After doing the review I REALLY, REALLY want the Jets to sign Bell. People are going to point to Bell’s injuries and the miles that he put on his tires (1,229 rushes, 312 receptions).

Injuries are typically going to be a concern with most running backs in the league. It’s something that fans have to realize. In fact, I doubt that many RB’s in the league have a clean bill of health five years and over 1,500 touches on their bodies. Something that has been thrown out there and has rung true throughout the last few years is that the Jets have a great medical staff. Examples range from guys like Laron Landry, Morris Claiborne, Kelvin Beachum, Henry Anderson etc. All guys who started their Jet careers with injury concerns but that concern rarely appeared while on the Jets. A full year off from football should also help Bell’s body recover from nagging injuries exponentially.

New York Jets Scouting Review – Gregg Williams’ Defense

Joe Blewett with a scouting breakdown of Greg Williams’ defense

When the Jets officially announced Gregg Williams as the team’s new defensive coordinator, you could hear a collective sigh of relief among the faithful devotees of the Green and White. Williams has been coaching in the NFL for nearly THIRTY YEARS (coaching for thirty-six if you count his tenure at Belton High School) as he started in 1990 as a special teams for the Houston Oilers

And the veteran defensive mind has earned his keep everywhere he has been – as an assistant at least – so Jets fans were well within their rights to find solace in the fact that he will be the chief architect of the team’s defense under new head coach Adam Gase.

I mentioned Williams’ success as an assistant, but he did fairly well during his latest foray as a head coach as well. Williams went 5-3 as interim coach of the Cleveland Browns in 2018 following the firing of Hue Jackson, and many believed he had a strong chance to be retained as the team’s permanent head coach.

TOJ New York Jets Film Review – Adam Gase 2018 Offense

Joe Blewett with a full film breakdown of Adam Gase’s offense

First we will start with the article/wrap up of Gase and his offense with the film review to follow below. Prior to the Adam Gase hire I personally really, REALLY didn’t like the idea of him being the head coach of the Jets. My opinion on the subject was largely based on negative things I had heard about Gase’s offense as well as numerous the “off the field” issues that I’ll touch on later.

But as somebody who has been reviewing film for a few years now, I should have known better than to rely on someone else’s opinion and break down the film for myself.

And to that end, I have to say that after watching the film for myself, I was pleasantly surprised that Gase seems to have a strong mind for offense.
