Joe Caporoso with initial reaction to the New York Jets first round selection of Ohio State linebacker Darron Lee
The New York Jets continued their run on defensive players in the first round by selecting Ohio State linebacker Darron Lee with the 20th overall pick. Our initial scouting report on Lee is right here. This was a fairly common mocked pick to the Jets considering Lee’s skill set and how it would in Todd Bowles’ defense. We know the Jets wanted speed and versatility, particularly at linebacker. Lee addresses that while providing strong value at the 20th overall spot.

Joe Caporoso with initial reaction to the New York Jets season ending 26-20 loss to the Buffalo Bills
The New York Jets season ended in excruciating fashion today with a 22-17 loss to the Buffalo Bills, which knocked them out of the AFC Playoffs despite a 10-6 record. The Jets couldn’t overcome a sluggish start thanks to three second half interceptions from Ryan Fitzpatrick and porous third down defense. Today was a team wide failure. All three phases and the coaching staff laid an egg, as many coaches and players who have put together very good to great seasons picked an awful time to have a bad day at the office.

Joe Caporoso with initial reaction to the New York Jets 26-20 overtime victory against the New England Patriots, which put them in position to make the AFC Playoffs with a week 17 win
The New York Jets won in thrilling fashion today in overtime against the New England Patriots, 26-20 in an electric, playoff like atmosphere at MetLife Stadium. Despite losing a two touchdown second half lead, the Jets rallied to take advantage of a rare, foolish coaching decision by Bill Belichick, who decided to kick off in overtime after winning the toss. The Jets promptly went 80 yards for the game winning score on six plays, capped by Eric Decker cooking Malcolm Butler on a slot fade route for the win. Thanks to an unexpected Baltimore Ravens win over the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Jets now control their playoff destiny heading into week 17.

Joe Caporoso with initial reaction to the New York Jets 19-16 win over the Dallas Cowboys, their 4th straight win
It wasn’t easy and it wasn’t always enjoyable but the New York Jets handled their business against the Dallas Cowboys for their fourth straight win, by escaping Jerry World with a 19-16 victory. This was a game filled with injuries, missed kicks, drops and whiffed tackles but the Jets found a way to overcome and string together a comeback in the game’s final quarter. Depending on how today breaks, the Jets could be in control of their playoff destiny starting a week from today at MetLife Stadium against the Patriots…

Joe Caporoso with initial reaction to the New York Jets 30-8 victory over the Oakland Raiders
The New York Jets thoroughly dominated the inferior Tennessee Titans today, 30-8 to move their record to 8-5 (doubling their 2014 win total with three games still to play). There was never any doubt as to the outcome of this one, as the Jets were in control from their opening drive through an entire second half of garbage time. They still have their work cut out for them to make the playoffs but they seem to be surging at the right time with a three game winning streak…

Joe Caporoso with initial joyous reaction to the New York Jets 23-20 overtime victory against the New York Giants
How sweet was that? The New York Jets were down 20-10 with 8:50 left in the game with the New York Giants at their 4 yard line. Tom Coughlin decided to go for it, instead of kicking a field goal. The Jets intercepted Eli Manning and then proceeded to march back for a thrilling 23-20 overtime victory, priming themselves for a playoff run in the final quarter of the season. This was an ugly 3.5 quarters from the Jets turned into arguably their biggest regular season win since 2010.

Joe Caporoso with initial reaction to the New York Jets 38-20 victory over the Miami Dolphins
The New York Jets had their best performance in nearly two months today at home against the Miami Dolphins with a dominant 38-20 victory. It was a “get well” game for the team against a mediocre opponent, where they got back to doing things that paved the way for their 4-1 start, mixed in with contributions from a few new faces. It was their fifth double digit victory of the season and second over the Dolphins.

Joe Caporoso with initial reaction to the New York Jets 24-17 loss to the Houston Texans
The New York Jets continued their mid-season swoon today in Houston with a 24-17 loss to the Houston Texans. Right now, the Jets are a bad football team who have lost 4 of their previous 5 games, regressing hard to the mean with a 5-5 record. Everybody has their scapegoat but the Jets issues are sadly more complex than a one person problem…

Joe Caporoso with initial reaction to the New York Jets embarrassing 34-20 loss to the Oakland Raiders
The New York Jets had their first truly awful showing of the 2015 season today in Oakland, with an embarrassing effort in a 34-20 loss. Despite being without Nick Mangold and Calvin Pryor, there is no excuse for how the Jets played today. The injuries continued to mount as well, with Geno Smith replacing Ryan Fitzpatrick in the first quarter and Brandon Marshall leaving needing x-rays on both his toe and ankle. Can the Jets rebound or is their first losing steak of the season going to compile into a downward trend for what had been an encouraging start?
