New York Jets Week 8 Report Card

Greg Armstrong with his New York Jets Week 8 Report Card…

The Jets put together their second lifeless performance of the year Sunday in Chicago, losing 24-10 to the Bears in a game where the Jets appeared to have no motivation to win. Dumb pre snap penalties, not being able to get a stop when needed and a conservative game plan doomed this team from the jump. Here is my Week 8 report card.  Continue reading “New York Jets Week 8 Report Card”

What’s Your Point – Episode #14 Featuring Guest Judge Alan Schechter

“Play Like A Jet” presents episode #14 of your weekly NY Jets debate show “What’s Your Point?” with Dalbin Osorio  vs Greg Armstrong. This week the guys do battle on four of the hottest topics surrounding the New York Jets immediately following the team’s 24-10 loss to the Chicago Bears:

  1. Was there anything different the Jets could have done or were they doomed by injuries?
  2. Should the Jets be buyers, sellers, or stand pat at the deadline?
  3. Has Sam Darnold met expectations halfway through his rookie season?
  4.  Who could the Jets hire to replace Mike Maccagnan as GM that might get you as mad as many Mets fans are about that team’s recent GM choice?

You will hear the answers to these topics debated with special guest Alan Schechter – Editor of the great NY Sports site Empirewritesback.com – as the judge, jury, and executioner!

New York Jets Week 7 Report Card

Greg Armstrong with his New York Jets Week 7 report card…

It was miserable, windy day at MetLife Stadium on Sunday and it was miserable performance from Sam Darnold and co.  They were plagued by miscues and undisciplined football, similar to that of the past four years under Todd Bowles. Here’s my Week 7 report card. (more…)

Initial Reaction: New York Jets Sign WR Rishard Matthews

Greg Armstrong with his initial reaction to the Rishard Matthews signing…

The New York Jets are dipping their toe in the receiver market. Adam Schefter reported that the Jets are signing former Titans recevier Rishard Matthews. (more…)

TOJ Instant Reaction: Jets Cut WR Terrelle Pryor

Greg Armstrong with his initial reaction to the Jets cutting Terrelle Pryor…

This move really isn’t that much of a shocker. Pryor came into camp hurt and had a little spat with Todd Bowles after he revealed he had broken his foot. It was a weird season filled with injuries, no shows and touchdown catches.

Pryor had 14 catches for 235 yards and two touchdown catches with the Jets this season. Although his athletic stature matched up with anyone in the league, he routinely showed laziness running routes, missed a ton of time in the preseason because of injury and couldn’t quite shake the rhetoric of a bad locker room guy that plagued him in Washington and Cleveland.

The timing of this injury and the ensuing release isn’t great for the Jets heading into their game against the Vikings. Quincy Enunwa is out and Robby Anderson has been hobbled all week with an injury. You need all of your best weapons when going up against a team that can put points on the board in bunches like the Vikings can. This will be the first real test to see if Sam Darnold can muster up some magic on Sunday.

The Jets reportedly are willing to bring Pryor back after his injury heals (estimated two weeks) but I’m willing to bet a receiver needy team scoops him up before then.

New York Jets Week 5 Report Card

Greg Armstrong with his Jets Week 5 Report Card…

After a couple of bad performances, the Jets got back on track at home against the Broncos. It was a real complete effort from the coaching staff all the way to special teams. It was a great performance for the team and the fan base after a couple of weeks of hostility following losses. (more…)

Greg Armstrong with his Week 4 New York Jets report card…
