New York Jets Week 2 Report Card

Greg Armstrong With His Week 2 Jets Report Card…

A little less than two weeks ago, excitement for a Jets season was an all time high. Sam Darnold in his second year, new weapons on offense and defense and some new uniforms. Now the Jets, as well as the fans, are in complete damage control after two games. The quarterback has mono, Jamal Adams is going through it, the Jets offensive line is a turnstile…you get the point. Here are the grades for Week 2. (more…)

New York Jets 2019 Week 1 Report Card

Greg Armstrong With His New York Jets Week 1 Report Card…

Football is back! Which means the weekly Jets report card is back! I won’t make you choose which of those you are more excited about. The most important thing is that Jets football has returned to our lives, for better or worse. As you may have heard, the Jets blew a 16 point lead to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday that is a very costly loss early considering it was a home division game and the tough schedule as we move forward. Heres how I have the Jets graded out for Week One. Continue reading “New York Jets 2019 Week 1 Report Card”

Initial Reaction-New York Jets 4 Waiver Wire Additions

Greg Armstrong With His Initial Reaction To The Jets Four Waiver Claims…

The New York Jets were said to be active with waiver claims and they didn’t disappoint. They were tied for the second most waiver claims with four. Joe Douglas has taken an active approach into trying to reshape the holes on the roster left by the old regime. Continue reading “Initial Reaction-New York Jets 4 Waiver Wire Additions”

Crafting A Basketball Team Out Of The Current Jets Roster

NFL Training Camps are quickly approaching but before we get there, the NBA takes precedent. The NBA draft was a week ago, free agency is right around the corner and weeks after we’ve moved on from the NBA season, awards were finally given out. With all that being said, what would a basketball team look like if we were limited to only guys on the current Jets roster? Lets give it a shot! Continue reading “Crafting A Basketball Team Out Of The Current Jets Roster”

Initial Reaction: Jets Hire Joe Douglas As GM

Greg Armstrong with his initial reaction to the Jets signing Joe Douglas as GM…

After a much elongated GM search, the Jets finally got what was widely regarded as the top candidate on the market in Joe Douglas. Douglas served as the Eagles VP of Player Personnel before accepting the job offer. Continue reading “Initial Reaction: Jets Hire Joe Douglas As GM”

Initial Reaction – Jets Select TE Trevon Wesco In Fourth Round

Greg Armstrong With His Initial Reaction On The Jets Selecting TE Trevon Wesco…

The New York Jets added some depth at tight end after trading back multiple times in the fourth round and taking Trevon Wesco. With Chris Herndon likely facing a suspension and the value at offensive line not so great in the fourth, Wesco gives Adam Gase an athletic blocker for his new RB1 Le’Veon Bell.  Continue reading “Initial Reaction – Jets Select TE Trevon Wesco In Fourth Round”

Initial Reaction- Jets Trade Up To Select OL Chuma Edoga In Third Round

Greg Armstrong With His Initial Reaction On The Jets Drafting OT Chuma Edoga…

The New York Jets *finally* address their offensive line need in the third round with a trade up with the Vikings. The Jets gave up the 93rd and 217th pick to move up to 92nd. Edoga is a talented player who who was Sam Darnolds tackle in college but there were questions about his work ethic coming into the draft.  (more…)

Robby Anderson – King Of New York Jets Social Media

Greg Armstrong on Robby Anderson’s increasingly dominant game (and social media game)

The last two years surrounding the Jets have been filled with talks of culture change despite still being bad on the field, a lofty nickname for a below average secondary and fans bickering with each other about whether or not Mike Maccagnan should stay as the GM. But through all of the dark times, there has been one shining light: Robby Anderson (and his social media game). (more…)

Initial Reaction: New York Jets Sign CB Brian Poole

After making the big moves earlier on in the week, the Jets begin to fill out the roster in the latter waves of free agency starting with CB Brian Poole. Poole will take over for Buster Skrine as the primary slot corner.

This appears to be an almost lateral move from Buster Skrine. I asked Charles McDonald earlier this week what his assessment of Poole was and he had this to say:

He seems to be one of the guys Gregg Williams prefers in his defense, in regards to a blitzing slot corner. He won’t be able to cover the faster slot receivers but will be serviceable in the slot. Skrine was a fine player but for the money he was making, you couldn’t justify him. Poole comes on a cheaper deal and can provide you with a similar skillset. I would still expect them to continue to make deals to sure up the secondary depth considering they’re main guys right now are Trumaine Johnson, Darryl Roberts and now Poole.

Another interesting stat, courtesy of Michael Nania: Poole averages almost two less penalties per 16 games than Buster Skrine. Hopefully he shows up for the two Dolphins games a year unlike Skrine.
