Connor Rogers grades out the New York Jets Linebackers performance in week one
Every week Staff Writer Connor Rogers will grade out the performance of the New York Jets linebackers. Here is his take on week one –
Week one was a huge a test for the Jets linebackers, facing Tampa Bay and their elite running back Doug Martin. Starters David Harris and Calvin Pace are the two returning veterans, both ironically coming off of very poor seasons. Newcomer Antwan Barnes was signed as a pass rush specialist in the offseason. 2012 3rd round draft pick Demario Davis is starting on the inside next to Harris, replacing Bart Scott. With starting outside linebacker Quinton Coples on the shelf for week one, Garret McIntyre slid into the base defense primarily for first and second downs. Let’s grade out the linebackers performances. Continue reading “New York Jets Week One – Linebackers Grade Sheet”
Cole Patterson grades out the New York Jets tight ends for their week 1 performance
Every week Cole Patterson will break down the performance of the New York Jets tight ends. Here is his take on week one.
Going into the offseason, anyone claiming a Jets’ tight end would lead the team in receiving week one would be immediately informed of a bridge for sale. Yet, here we stand, following a roller coaster of a win and the Jets tight ends may have out performed all other position groups (excluding the defensive line).

Dan Marcus hands out game balls for the New York Jets week 1 win over the Tampa Bay Bucs
This is marks the first regular season edition of “Game Balls” that almost never was as the New York Jets snatched defeat from the jaws of victory and victory from the jaws of defeat in the span of about two minutes. I never thought that I would see a team “out-Jets” the Jets but a little dose of Greg Schiano was apparently what the doctor ordered and without further ado, it is time to paint em’ up

TOJ Staff Writer Dalbin Osorio grades the New York Jets running backs from Week 1
Every week Staff Writer Dalbin Osorio will grade out the New York Jets running back’s performance. Here is his take after the Jets week 1 victory over Tampa
I grade each play on a 1 to 5 scale. Loss of yardage is rated a 0, no gain is rated a 1, a gain of 1-3 yards is rated a 2, gains of 4-6 are rated a 3, gains of 7-9 yards or are rated a 4, and gains of 10+ yards are rated a 5. TDs increase your overall grade by 10 points, and fumbles decrease your score by -5. I do it like this to factor in receptions, reward positive plays accordingly, and penalize negative plays accordingly. The total from the grades of each individual play are then converted to letter grades, with As representing (50 or higher), Bs (39-49), Cs (29-39), Ds (19-29), and Fs (0-18) being given out for total performance). Performance of the offensive line and available running space is also factored in.
Running Backs: Chris Ivory, Bilal Powell, Tommy Bohanon
Total Carries: 22
Rushing Yards: 34
Yards Per Carry: 1.5
Total Touches: 27
Total Yards: 90
Yards Per Touch: 3.3

TJ Rosenthal goes No Huddle on the New York Jets week one victory
Initial reaction to the New York Jets stunning opening day win, 18-17, over the Tampa Bay Bucs
Admit it, you were cursing Rex Ryan and his overrated, un-clutch defense after Tampa Bay took a 17-15 lead with 34 seconds left. A terrific all around effort from his unit and an encouraging debut from Geno Smith was about to go to waste because of one ill-timed blitz and one missed tackle. The media would pile on and revel in the Jets 0-1 start. Yet, today wasn’t a day for the “LOLJETS” – Today was a day for Rex and his team to pull a victory out of thin air and let Jets fans have something to smile about. Yes, they got a major hand from a poorly coached, undisciplined and overrated Tampa team but wins are wins and we’ll take them all.

Mike Donnelly with week 1 NFL Fantasy and Gambling Advice
Well look what we have here. The Turn On The Jets gambling column has found a new home in 2013 and it is right here in Donnellyville. Joe searched high and low for the most degenerate gambler he could find, and he picked me. I’m honored. I truly am. Each week I’m going to run down all the games and give a brief synopsis on why I’m picking who I am. Then I’m going to give you my 5 “Best Bets” which are typically the games I’m going to be betting on myself and the “Teaser of the Week”. Yes, teasers are usually sucker bets, but they’re fun, and every once in a while I nail a good one. Then afterwards, I’m gonna give my fantasy football advice for the week. You’re welcome. Let’s get started. Continue reading “TOJ – Week 1 Gambling and Fantasy Football Advice”
