Broadway Carousel: Bench Geno Smith?

After a turnover filled Sunday afternoon in Nashville, Tennessee, outrage has begun in the Geno Smith era. Not your Josh Freeman-Greg Schiano type outrage, but rather your typical New York Jets outrage. The type that the team isn’t even aware of because it’s created by know-it-all media types and a schizophrenic fan base. “The Jets need a game manager”, “Start Matt Simms”, “Give Brady Quinn a shot”, “Pull Geno, he doesn’t have what it takes”, just to throw around a couple of intelligent quotes I stumbled upon yesterday. Are we really talking about creating a broadway carousel in New York?  Continue reading “Broadway Carousel: Bench Geno Smith?”

Super Fast Friday: Jets at Titans

Dan Marcus breaks down the Jets vs. Titans, “Super Fast Friday” style.

After an unnecessarily hard-fought win at home against the Bills, the Jets start the most brutal stretch of games any team in the NFL has to deal with this season and it starts this Sunday in Tennessee. If you will recall, the last time the Jets went into Tennessee, it was quite the debacle. Before we dive into it, here’s everything you need to know about this weekend’s match-up in the most concise post of the week:  Continue reading “Super Fast Friday: Jets at Titans”

New York Jets – Week 3 Linebacker Grade Sheet

Connor Rogers grades out the New York Jets linebackers in week 3

As the weeks pass us by, the New York Jets season tends to get more interesting. For a team that was not even supposed to “compete”, they look quite impressive. A large portion of this impressive play can be attributed to the linebacking core, a vicious crew that seem to be every star halfback’s worst nightmare. Let’s grade out the linebacker’s performances from week 3 against the Buffalo Bills. Continue reading “New York Jets – Week 3 Linebacker Grade Sheet”

Week 3 – New York Jets vs. Buffalo Bills Halftime Report

Half time report on the New York Jets and Buffalo Bills

What an exciting first half of football with the Jets leading the Bills 17-6. Geno Smith is airing it out against a beat up Bills secondary, the Jets defense is trying to out-do the 2009 team, and this offense is actually portraying a real aerial NFL offense. With all of these nice things, the Bills are still right in this game thanks to a Geno Smith interception and Calvin Pace missing key tackles. Let’s run down a wild first half of Jets-Bills football.

New York Jets Know Your Opponent (Week 3 – Buffalo)

Staff Writer Dalbin Osorio overviews the New York Jets Week 3 opponent, the Buffalo Bills, in this week’s version of TOJ’s Know Your Opponent.

Off a heartbreaking loss to the vulnerable New England Patriots on Thursday night, the New York Jets have had 10 days to prepare for Doug Marrone and the Buffalo Bills. The story-lines are a-plenty: for sociological purposes, this will be the 2nd time in Bills history that two African American quarterbacks face off against each other. From a coaching standpoint, Rex Ryan gets to have his offense go against his protege’s defense, as Mike Pettine returns to the scene of some of his most famous leaks (no pun intended.) And, from a strictly football standpoint, both teams are 1-1 and looking to notch their first win in the division. Let’s get to know the opponent the Jets will be facing this Sunday.

New York Jets Week Two – Linebackers Grade Sheet

Connor Rogers grades out the New York Jets linebackers in week 2

After an impressive week one performance against one of the better running backs in the league in Doug Martin, the New York Jets linebackers were excellent again. I was cautious with my grading after week one, but after two weeks of solid play they deserve the praise. While the inside linebackers are looking like two of the best run stuffers in the league after two shutdown weeks, the outside linebackers have been inconsistent. With the help of Quinton Coples returning this week against Buffalo, the Jets should have one of the better front sevens in the AFC. Let’s grade out this past week’s performances. New York Jets – Know Your Opponent (Week 2 – New England)

Staff Writer Dalbin Osorio overviews the New York Jets Week 2 opponent, the New England Patriots

It is always a different feeling when we reach a week where the New York Jets and New England Patriots square off. This week will be further different because the days when Rex would “tug on Superman’s cape”, as well as the days when New England seems unbeatable are gone. Yes, the “Patriot Way” took some hits this offseason, with the arrest of Aaron Hernandez and the loss of Wes Welker. However, we at TOJ still picked the Pats to win the AFC East, namely because of one Thomas Edward Patrick Brady, Junior. Let’s get to know this week’s opponent, an opponent we are all very familiar with.

New York Jets Week One – Linebackers Grade Sheet

Connor Rogers grades out the New York Jets Linebackers performance in week one

Every week Staff Writer Connor Rogers will grade out the performance of the New York Jets linebackers. Here is his take on week one –

Week one was a huge a test for the Jets linebackers, facing Tampa Bay and their elite running back Doug Martin. Starters David Harris and Calvin Pace are the two returning veterans, both ironically coming off of very poor seasons. Newcomer Antwan Barnes was signed as a pass rush specialist in the offseason. 2012 3rd round draft pick Demario Davis is starting on the inside next to Harris, replacing Bart Scott. With starting outside linebacker Quinton Coples on the shelf for week one, Garret McIntyre slid into the base defense primarily for first and second downs. Let’s grade out the linebackers performances. Continue reading “New York Jets Week One – Linebackers Grade Sheet”

New York Jets vs. Tampa Bay Bucs – Under The Radar Edition

Connor Rogers looks at under the radar aspects of the New York Jets week 1 match-up against the Tampa Bay Bucs

The preseason is finally over and as always the mood is tense in New York Jets land. The media is continuously attacking Rex Ryan (for going to his son’s college football game) and every “analyst” has the Jets winning 2 games. Shocking? Not in the slightest bit. With all of this smoke covering up what really matters (the Jets are a football team, not a soap opera) there is a very important matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this Sunday. Let’s dive into the football aspects of this matchup that have flew under the radar: Continue reading “New York Jets vs. Tampa Bay Bucs – Under The Radar Edition”
