Mike Donnelly of TOJ grades the New York Jets 2014 lineup compared to last year’s team
Now that the dust has settled after the NFL draft, we have a better idea of what the New York Jets are going to look like when they open up the 2014 season in a few months against the Raiders. General Manager John Idzik faced a ton of criticism during free agency from impatient fans and media types, but it’s clear by now that he has a plan and he’s sticking to it. He’s going to build this team how he sees fit, mainly by building through the draft.
But just how improved is this year’s team over last year’s 8-8 squad? Well, just as I did a year ago, I’m going to find out by going position by position and comparing last year’s team to what we expect to see come September. And also just like last year, I’m going to use the very scientific and accurate “Tebows” Rating System! Continue reading “Grading the New York Jets 2014 Lineup Changes (Offense)”
Mike O’Connor breaks down the thinking behind the Jets’ selection of Dexter McDougle in the third round of the NFL Draft
When the Jets selected Maryland corner back Dexter McDougle on Friday night of the NFL Draft, a wide variety of fans understandably believed the pick was a slight reach on instinct. Both casual fans unaware of his name entirely and even intense draft fans who knew of his 2013 season ending shoulder injury believed, as a whole, that the Jets possibly could have found better value with the third round selection. However, now that the smoke has cleared, it is time to analyze why John Idzik and company’s risky Day Two selection might actually be their smartest pick of the draft.

Here are my brief thoughts on each player, with more overview and in-depth analysis on the way throughout the week…
Please note that “players who should be most worried” is just the phrase I am using to identify the players who will be pushed most by each specific pick in training camp. Also the NFL player comparisons don’t necessarily mean I think this pick is going to turn into that guy in terms of production, etc…it is just meant to paint a clearer picture of his game.
