Joe Belic with five surprising roster cuts for the New York Jets
Speculation exists surrounding who’ll end up making the 2019 roster. Inevitably, players that may have left an impression will ultimately be released as it’s the nature of the business. In this week’s “Joe Jets 5,” I name five surprise cuts the Jets make en route to the final 53.

OK, so, Snoopy is dead to me, and preliminary bragging rights belong to Giants fans until the teams meet again on November 10. Regardless, Jets fans should be elated with how seamlessly the Jets’ first-team moved the ball during the opening drive. Crowder and Herndon performed as advertised, and Sam made all the right moves—well, except for one errant pass, but let’s not get into that. Nevertheless, the second and third teams didn’t fare as well, and many questions still remain. In this week’s “Joe Jet 5,” I breakdown five glaring weaknesses the Jets need to address. (more…)
Joe Belic with his weekly New York Jets top five…looking at players who need a big preseason opener
The annual Snoopy Bowl is upon us. Bragging rights—over friends and family—makes this one of the more entertaining preseason games of the year. In addition, it’s an opportunity to evaluate players and get a good feel for the depth of our respective teams. For some fans, the game is a frivolous part of the schedule, but for many players, it’s their only chance to shine, and possibly cement themselves a role. In this week’s “Joe Jet 5,” I take a look at prospects and a position group I’m most interested in watching Thursday night. (more…)
Joe Belic predicts how the New York Jets could get to ten wins in 2019…
In a recent “Joe Jet 5,” I explored five crucial components to a potential playoff berth: front office autonomy, innovative coaching, a solid offensive line, improved defensive backs, and a franchise QB. Assuming the Jets remain sound in all five areas, a trip to the postseason is a realistic aspiration. In this week’s “Joe Jet,” I predict 10 victories Gang Green will take to secure a spot in the playoffs for the first time in almost nine years.
Joe Belic with five bold predictions for the 2019 New York Jets
From a “crazy-eyed” press conference to a “rift” in the front office, it’s been a bit of roller-coaster ride this offseason; however, things have settled down and the Jets are once again on course. Adam Gase and new GM Joe Douglas are gelling and Sam Darnold is on the rise. Nevertheless, many remain theorizing how the year will play out. In this week’s “Joe Jet 5,” I make five bold predictions about the upcoming season.

Whether or not the Jets will be a playoff team this year remains up for debate. While most fans and/or pundits are comfortable with some sort of progression, several conditions, if managed correctly, could breed a contender as early as this season. In this week’s “Joe Jet 5,” I explore the five most important components to a potential playoff run.
Joe Belic ranks the top five New York Jets fantasy players heading into 2019…
The Jets hold a plethora of versatile players in their arsenal who can play multiple positions. The ability to interchange players from one position to the next will be a huge advantage come game day. From a fan’s standpoint, this is great news, but from a fantasy football perspective, this leaves a lot of uncertainty. In this week’s “Joe Jet 5,” I rank the Jets’ most relevant fantasy players for the upcoming season. (Note: all rankings based on PPR scoring format)
Joe Belic ranks the top five offensive linemen on the New York Jets
There are entire industries, products and social programs devoted to safety: security systems, insurance policies, police forces, firemen, airbags, seatbelts and more. We wear the necessary attire in the winter to keep us warm and protected. We religiously wash our hands—especially these days—hoping to scrub away the invisible enemy. Everybody wants coverage of some kind. Why should Quarterbacks be different?
Joe Belic on who the top five offensive lines will be during the 2019 NFL season
The term “games are won in the trenches” at this point has become an NFL cliché, but it hasn’t lost its importance, as this is foundational football.
With the game revolving around jaw dropping catches, amazing runs and perfect spirals, it’s easy for offensive linemen to be overlooked. Let’s be real, fans respect the perfect block, but we downright salivate over the big play. We watch whole segments devoted to one hand catches, long touchdown runs and perfectly timed “dimes” dropped in for a TD. Sometimes we forget who/what is typically responsible for those plays, the “hog mollies.”
Joe Belic ranks the New York Jets last five General Managers…
Nothing could faze me: a car alarm waking me up in the dead of night, an unexpected flat tire in the middle of nowhere, or a stand still traffic jam on the West Side Highway. The Jets got their guy, Joe Douglas. Joe arrives in Florham Park with quite the resume: he worked with master talent evaluator Ozzie Newsom, Howie Roseman—the best “contract guy” in the NFL—and was part of 3 Super Bowl victories. He also played a role in drafting newly acquired Jets, CJ Mosley and Kelechi Osemele. A new era has begun with much optimism and a rejuvenated fanbase, but how did we get here? As a tribute to the past, I did an analysis of the last five regimes, ranking them from best to worst.
