Jets vs Raiders: The Spotlight

The Oakland Raiders come into Metlife Stadium on Sunday to face the skidding New York Jets. Both teams have relatively young players starting in key positions, leading to inconsistent play all season. As the Jets playoff hopes continue to fade due to an anemic offense, Oakland is struggling to create a blueprint for their future. Both teams have struggled with inconsistent quarterback play and secondary problems all season, which is often a recipe for disaster. Let’s break down what to watch for in this Sunday afternoon match up. Continue reading “Jets vs Raiders: The Spotlight”

New York Jets – Week 12 Linebacker Grades

After an abysmal performance in Buffalo, the Jets needed a bounce back win in Baltimore. Unfortunately for Gang Green, the offense came out quite flat once again. On the flip side, the front seven was dominate and continues to beg their secondary for some help. The Ravens did not exactly light up the scoreboard but an anemic offensive performance from the entire Jets offense gave the team no chance to win. Let’s grade out the linebackers, a consistent bright spot for this young squad. Continue reading “New York Jets – Week 12 Linebacker Grades”

New York Jets Week 11 – Linebacker Grades

The Jets had two weeks to prepare for the Buffalo Bills after an impressive win over the New Orleans Saints. Sounds like a formula for success, right? Unfortunately, the team had trouble on both sides of the ball all day long on Sunday. One of the few bright spots was the linebackers, a crew that is often overshadowed by the horrendous play of the New York secondary. Lets take a look at how they faired against the Bills on the road. John Idzik: The Man With A Blueprint

When John Idzik was hired as the New York Jets general manager, local beat writers and national analysts painted him in a dull fashion. Seattle’s “cap guy” was everyone’s favorite description, which completely neglected his vast resume as a former VP of football administration. He was Seattle’s representative at league meetings, oversaw player negotiations and transactions, along with day to day football operations, all for a franchise that has nearly perfected the “rebuilding” phase.

With hopes he could develop a plan to elevate the Jets back into the AFC contender they once were, Woody Johnson hired the “cap guy.” What many have failed to recognize is that the Jets have brought in an architect who is ready to execute his blueprint. New York Jets – Week 9 Linebacker Grade Sheet

After a disappointing blowout loss in Cincinnati where the Jets barely scratched Andy Dalton, Gang Green came to play at home against the Saints. The front seven was the story of the game, making Drew Brees afternoon an absolute nightmare. Lets grade out the linebackers from week nine. New York Jets -Linebackers Midseason Review

In a half a season full of ups and downs, the Jets have had many positives to take from the linebacker position. More importantly, John Idzik is getting a great grasp on what needs to be done in the upcoming offseason at the position. While one young players career is blossoming, another former star’s has been rejuvenated. Not all is perfect in Jets land though, as there are major concerns at outside linebacker. Let’s give out overall grades from the first half of the season. Continue reading “New York Jets -Linebackers Midseason Review”

New York Jets – Week 7 Linebacker Grade Sheet

The New York Jets pulled off an upset against division rival New England Patriots in week seven, an effort that required contributions from every phase of the team. The front seven continues to shine, as New England was forced to run a pass happy game plan on Sunday. Opponents are struggling to develop a run game against the Jets stout defensive front, helping the secondary key in on an expected passing attack. Let’s take a look how the linebackers faired in the victory from week seven.

New York Jets vs. New England Patriots – Halftime Report

The New England Patriots have brought a healthy Rob Gronkowski and a banged up defense to Metlife Stadium this week to face the Jets. Fortunately for the Patriots, their rock solid offensive performance is hiding a defense filled with back up players. On the other end, Geno Smith and the Jets have played well enough to hang around besides a brutal pick six in the first quarter. Let’s take a look at the first half highlights. Continue reading “New York Jets vs. New England Patriots – Halftime Report”

New York Jets – Depth Chart Movement

Injuries are mounting around the NFL, along with former fringe players exceeding expectations and former starters losing their jobs. The depth chart movement around the league is contagious as the second half of the season is quickly approaching. New York Jets vs. New England Patriots – Round Two Hooks and Jabs

Connor Rogers takes an early look at the Jets vs Patriots upcoming match up.

I’ve always hated calling match ups “must win games”, but in terms of the division title hopes, the New York Jets are playing a must win game against the New England Patriots Sunday afternoon. New England has been in “hold the fort” mode all season as they wait for the return of superstar tight end Rob Gronkowski and wide receiver Danny Amendola (who hasn’t stayed healthy all year). Unfortunately for the Jets and the entire AFC East, the Patriots are 5-1 in “hold the fort” mode. The Jets, standing at 3-3, must beat the Patriots Sunday. Here is how they could pull it off: Continue reading “New York Jets vs. New England Patriots – Round Two Hooks and Jabs”
