Random predictions for what should be a highly unique training camp/preseason…

– George Fant will emerge as the team’s starting right tackle, beating out Chuma Edoga for the job. Edoga will be the team’s top backup at tackle, while Cameron Clark and Jonotthan Harrison will be the top interior backup offensive linemen.

– Patrick Onwuasor will replace CJ Mosley as the team’s starting inside linebacker alongside Avery Williamson. The team will also carry Neville Hewitt, James Burgess and Blake Cashman on their roster as backups at inside linebacker.

– The Jets will begin the season with Pierre Desir and Blessaun Austin as their starting outside corners with Arthur Maulet and Quincy Wilson as the primary backups. At least 4 different players will get starts on the outside at corner this season while Brian Poole mans the slot.

– Lawrence Cager and Bryce Huff will both stick on the team’s final roster and see playing time in the back half of the season. The Jets will be highly rotational at edge between Jordan Jenkins, Tarrell Basham, Huff and Jabari Zuniga.

– Ashtyn Davis will see a high volume of time with the first team in camp and preseason, in three safety looks and rotating in for either Marcus Maye or Bradley McDougald. He will also serve as the team’s primary kick returner.

– David Fales will be the team’s primacy backup while Joe Flacco recovers from his injury. Flacco won’t be the backup until week 3.

– Daniel Brown will be the team’s primary backup tight end behind Chris Herndon and Ryan Griffin. Trevon Wesco will either not make the final roster or not have a significant role on the offense.

– The Jets will sign Demaryius Thomas before week 1. The Jets will release Henry Anderson before week 1.

– La’Mical Perine will receive an overwhelming majority of whatever training camp and preseason carries are available but have a minuscule role in the offense when the season starts, as Frank Gore will clearly be Le’Veon Bell’s primary backup.

– Brett Maher will beat out Sam Ficken for the Jets kicking job.

– Braxton Berrios will be the team’s primary punt returner and backup Jamison Crowder in the slot.

– The Jets will go into Buffalo week 1 as 6 point underdogs.
