Twelve BRIEF takes on the New York Jets first week of free agency, stay tuned for a 60+ minute episode of Badlands this weekend with Connor Rogers and a few other guests going in-depth on all of this…

– Fant – A one year gamble if the Jets envision him as a full time starter, particularly at left tackle. Kelvin Beachum was never coming back here due to the coaching staff so it wasn’t crazy to fill his spot with a higher upside swing but the Jets are taking a major risk if the plan is to start him 16 games to guard Sam’s blindside.

– McGovern – There is nothing negative to say about this transaction. A great signing of a quality player on fair money at a major position of need. Bravo, Joe Douglas.

– Lewis – Reasonable contract for an average player with durability questions. Every player on the offensive line will not be a slam dunk but hopefully Lewis can be healthy and competent enough in 2020.

– Poole – A home run landing one of the best slot corners in football on a one year, 5 million dollar contract. Bravo, Joe Douglas.

– Robby – The longer he goes unsigned, the better for the Jets. They may be able to steal him back on a short term deal on lower than expected money.

– Jenkins – The Jets have been wise not to overvalue him and they just may get him back if no market rises up for him.

– The Updated Maccagnan Chart – WOW!

– Defense – More competition at corner and particularly edge would be welcome. I don’t think Clowney is happening.

– Offense – Fingers crossed for Robby or a strong contingency plan at wide receiver.

– Now Gone – Brandon Shell. Maurice Canady. Tom Compton.

– Next Up – I’ll predict the Jets give edge rusher Vinny Curry a one year deal at some point this weekend.
