New York Jets 53 Man Roster Prediction – Post Week 1 Of Preseason

Joe Caporoso with a 53 man roster prediction for the New York Jets after week 1 of the preseason

A quick 53 man roster prediction for the New York Jets after week 1 of the preseason…

Quarterback (2) – Sam Darnold, Trevor Siemian

No surprises here and no reason to carry three.

Running Back (4) – Le’Veon Bell, Ty Montgomery, Bilal Powell, Valentine Holmes

Yes, a surprise with Holmes making it over Elijah McGuire (who is redundant with Montgomery here) and Trenton Cannon (who is a decent gunner and nothing else). Holmes brings a little more size and still contribute on specials.

Wide Receiver (6) – Robby Anderson, Jamison Crowder, Quincy Enunwa, Josh Bellamy, Greg Dortch, Deontay Burnett

Bellamy is in the driver’s seat for the fourth receiver spot and will be a key special teamer. Dortch is going to be the punt and kick returner. The final spot will be between Burnett and Deonte Thompson.

Tight End (3) – Ryan Griffin, Trevon Wesco, Daniel Brown

These three will hold the fort until Chris Herndon comes back. Brown will get cut when he comes back.

Offensive Line (9) – Kelvin Beachum, Brandon Shell, Brian Winters, Kelechi Osemele, Ryan Kalil, Jonotthan Harrison, Chuma Edoga, Tom Compton, Alex Lewis

The newcomers Kalil and Lewis round out the unit, which bumps Harrison into his usual backup role and keeps the veteran Compton around.

Defensive Line (6) Leonard Williams, Steve McLendon, Henry Anderson, Quinnen Williams, Nathan Shepherd, Bronson Kaufusi

The Jets move on from 2018 draft pick Fatukasi but give Shepherd another year to establish a spot in the rotation.

Linebacker (8) Avery Williamson, CJ Mosley, Neville Hewitt, Blake Cashman, Jordan Jenkins, Brandon Copeland, Frankie Luvu, Jachai Polite

No surprises here, although I’d bet on Polite regularly being an inactive in the first half of the season.

Cornerback (7) Trumaine Johnson, Brian Poole, Daryl Roberts, Montrel Meander, Derrick Jones, TBD Veteran, TBD Veteran

The depth at this position is a mess. Look for the Jets to be very active in either the waiver wire market or trade market to add another veteran or two.

Safety (5) Jamal Adams, Marcus Maye, Rontez Miles, Brandon Bryant, Doug Middleton

The Jets start the year out with an extra body at safety and major question marks around Maye’s availability.

Specials (3) Lachlan Edwards, Thomas Hennessey, TBD Kicker

The Jets still need to find their kicker and it won’t be Chandler Catanzaro.
