TOJ Tweet Summary 2018, Week 16 – Jets vs. Packers

Dan Essien recaps the Jets week 16 matchup against the Green Bay Packers with #JetsTwitter

The Jets entered week 16 coming off of a close loss to the Houston Texans. The team was hoping to get back on track with a win against the Packers, while “Tank” faction of the fanbase were hoping to have their cake and eat it with Sam Darnold playing well and the Jets still improving their draft position. Let’s go through this whirlwind game with #JetsTwitter.

1st Half

On the Jets first draft, Sam Darnold and the offense picked up a few first downs but the Jets had to settle for a field goal attempt…

Pro-tankers infiltrated the locker room…

On the ensuing drive, the Jets defense forced a punt after a key Leonard Williams sack. Then the Jets offense got something going…

On the following Packers drive, the Jets defense made another big play, a Henry Anderson sack, to force another punt. Then Darnold put the flames on high…

Speak it into existence!

Aaron Rodgers refused to be kept down, however. He brought the Packers back with a score with a 49 yard touchdown pass to make it 14-7.

Right after that Packers’ score…

Mike with the prophetic tweet…

On the next drive, Aaron Rodgers and the Packers’ offense were fully awake…while a particular Jets player had his game ended early…

Yay…

The Jets, on their next drive, went three and out and the Packers got the ball back with a chance to get points before the half.

2nd Half

The Packers got the ball to start the second half. Rodgers was able to drive them down to the 11 yard line but the Jets defense held them to field attempt.

After that, Darnold continued his tear…

On the kickoff immediately following the Jets’ extra point, Brant Boyer’s boys got another one…

To be revisited…

The Jets capitalized on the turnover with a touchdown a few plays later…

Never lose hope…

After the Jets went up two scores, both teams traded punts. However, the Packers offense got the ball moving again and settled for an early fourth quarter field goal to draw closer.

Needing to string together first downs and take time off the clock, the Jets naturally went on a 4 play, 17 yard, 2:11 drive and gave the ball back to Aaron Rodgers. Then…

The Jets following drive stalled once more and they had to punt it back to the Packers with a chance to lose their once 15-point lead. And of course, we knew who was on that other sideline…

Stop it! You love them…

Ahh yes, there they are…

Then on the ensuing kickoff…

The fanbase was emotionally confused…

Kirstian had the right idea…

Shortly after Roberts’ great return, the Jets failed to score a touchdown and had to settle for a fiield goal attempt to tie the game (much to the chagrin of Kristian and Ryan).

Don’t worry, Dan. It didn’t take long…

Tell us how you really feel, Darryl…

What’s the noise I hear…rumbling in the distance…?
