TOJ Tweet Summary 2018, Week 3 – Jets vs. Browns

Daniel Essien recaps the Jets week 3 showdown against the Cleveland Browns with #JetsTwitter

The Jets were trying to bounce back from a week 2 loss to the Dolphins at home, as they traveled to Cleveland to take on the Browns. To many fans, the Browns seemed like an ideal opponent bounce back into form. But of course, it’s never that easy. Let’s follow the highs and lows through #JetsTwitter.

1st Half

As per usual on a Thursday night, many expected a sloppy game. And that’s just how it started. The first 7 possessions of the game resulted in punts as the Jets defense dominated while the offense struggled.

Then after forcing a punt, the Jets finally got their big play.

Jets kept the momentum going finally putting points of the board with a touchdown run by Isaiah Crowell to go up 7-0.

On the following Browns drive, the Jets defense got right back to work.

I wish it was longer in hindsight…

Jets got the ball back and put together another scoring drive, again ending with a touchdown run by Isaiah Crowell, to make it 14-0. He followed his touchdown with a polarizing artistic gesture.

Jets defense continued to hold, and eventually knocked Tyrod Taylor out of the game towards the end of the first half. And you know what that meant…

The Jets punted on their following drive and as the defense took the field…

Mayfield was an instant igniter from the Browns. He was able to immediately drive down the field but the Jets defense fortunately kept him out of the endzone. The Browns settled for a field goal to make it 14-3.

Unfortunately, it got louder…

2nd Half

Unfortunately….this did not happen…

After trading punts to start off the second half, the Jets finally found a way to get the ball to Robby Anderson.

The Browns added another field goal to make it 14-6. Then after the Jets punted on the following drive. The Browns completely took over.

The Jets were completely reeling at this point. But, they were able to put a drive together and get a field goal to take the lead back and make it 17-14. But the Jets defense again fell apart late…

The first stage of grief…

The Jets got the ball back with a chance to drive down the field and win the game. This is why drafted a guy like Sam Darnold. So he can step up when the moment arises and perform at his best with the game on the line!…….in maybe a few weeks/months!!

Postgame

Jets fans weren’t too happy with the coaching staff, after what was perceived by some hastily as the worst loss ever.

Creative…

Wow…

Welp, folks…the good news is that there’s no way you could possibly feel any lower than you did on Thursday night about the Jets this season. Only up from here!
