Divisional Round Recap: I went 2-1-1 on my picks last week, which puts my record for the year at 53-38-2. I thought for sure I was going to go 3-1, but then the Miracle in Minneapolis happened.
New England -7.5 vs. Jacksonville
This line has moved down slightly because of Tom Brady’s mysterious hand injury, so I’m going to take advantage of it. Not only do I think Brady will be fine, but I actually think this game could end in a blow out. Bill Bellichick is almost guaranteed to take away what the Jags do best on offense, which is feeding the ball to Leonard Fournette. If this game comes down to Blake Bortles having to make plays on his own, it could be over in the first half. New England’s offense, on the other hand, should have no problem scoring points. This should be a monster game for Rob Gronkowski, as the Jaguars defense has struggled against tight ends all season. As much as I would hate to see them in another Super Bowl, I’m taking the Patriots to win 31-18.
Minnesota -3 at Philadelphia
I fully expect this game to be low scoring and ugly, much like the Eagles’ win over Atlanta last week. However, I just don’t see a scenario where Nick Foles plays lights out against this Vikings defense, especially if Andrew Sendejo is healthy. Not only that, but Minnesota was also one of the best teams defending the run this season, which could seriously limit Jay Ajayi and the Philadelphia offense. After their incredible win over the Saints, the Vikings are starting to feel like a team of destiny. I’m betting on them to continue their good mojo and win here, 20-16.
