The Backdrop

We lost another great young player for the season this past week (ENOUGH, NFL GODS!) with Carson Wentz sustaining a season ending injury. Yes, it is nice to be getting Aaron Rodgers back but this one sucks just as much Deshaun Watson, Odell Beckam Jr and of course Quincy Enunwa (hey, I’m a Jers fan still).

Wentz was a player I was far from bullish on in the NFL Draft process and routinely criticized after an up and down rookie year. Spoiler: I was wrong. The guy is a stud and it is good to be wrong. There is nothing better and more exciting to watch than a great quarterback. It is great for the league. It is great for people who love the sport. Believe it or not, I hope I’m still wrong on Christian Hackenberg (I’m not but still) and will be wrong on Josh Allen. We need more Carson Wentz, Russel Wilson, Aaron Rodgers and less Blaine Gabbert, Bryce Petty and Joe Webb. Flood this league with great quarterbacks. It will be good for everybody’s sanity.

In the meantime, we have been denied a potential epic Rodgers/Wentz January battle or a Wentz/Wilson rematch. Heal up, Carson. Heal up, Deshaun. Let’s make quarterbacking great again.

A Three Team Tease Is Always A Bad Idea But…

  • Eagles (-1), Ravens (-1), Atlanta (PK)

No surprises here…betting against the two worst teams in the NFL (Cleveland, Giants) and Atlanta taking care of business in a must win versus an awful Tampa Bay team.

Record: 8-6

Primetime Parlay

  • Denver (-2.5), Dallas (-3)

What an awful Thursday night game.. I am not convinced Chuck Pagano can ever coach another win. Dallas is do or die against a dreadful Oakland team.

Record: 3-11

Straight Up

  • Baltimore (-7)

This line is too low against a team destined for 0-16.

Record: 9-5

FanDuel Fun

  • QB – Drew Brees
  • RB – Todd Gurley
  • RB – Jay Ajayi
  • WR – Josh Gordon
  • WR – Adam Thielen
  • WR – Larry Fitzgerald
  • TE – Austin Seferian-Jenkins
  • K – Nick Rose
  • D – New Orleans

Overrated Snack of the Week

Peach Cobbler!

On the way with the holidays here! Another overrated, traditional desert that is taking up unnecessary space on the table. The cake and pie space needs to be reserved for key components like chocolate cake, ice cream cake, cheesecake, apple pie. Nobody needs peaches. Nobody needs cobbler. Nobody needs them put together.

Random Internet Complaint

Any serious argument about Lamar Jackson needing to play wide receiver in the NFL and not quarterback. Give it up.

NFL/GM Coach Reminders

  • You control when people go in and out of the game (Bill O’Brien!)
  • You need to have a game plan (Todd Bowles!)
  • Eli cannot save you (Spags!)
  • It is almost over, friend. (Marvin Lewis!)
