TOJ Tweet Summary Week 13 – Jets vs. Chiefs

Daniel Essien with a #JetsTwitter Summary on the New York Jets week 13 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs…

After once again falling apart late in the game against the Panthers in week 12, the Jets headed into week 13 hoping to take advantage of Kansas City’s recent slide, at home. This one turned out to be one of the most entertaining games this season…for many reasons. #JetsTwitter takes us through it.

1st Half

This one started out…really poorly. On the Chiefs first drive it took only 5 plays to go 75 yards and score on a Travis Kelce TD reception from Alex Smith.

The Jets went three and out on their first drive and then the Chiefs attacked again. This time, after a great return by Tyreek Hill to the Jets 36, the Chiefs needed just one play to go up 14-0 as Kelce scored his second touchdown in the first 5 minutes on the game.

Immediately after, the Jets started to show signs of life. On the following drive they got on the board with a Bilal Powell 1-yard TD run to cap a 9 play drive.

The Jets defense was finally able to get their first stop on the next Chiefs drive and then the Jets offense got the ball back and went to work. They put together another long TD drive, this time ending with a Josh McCown 1-yard TD run.

After an easy missed field goal by the Chiefs and a punt by the Jets, the Chiefs then successfully added a field goal to make it 17-14. Then the Jets offense took the field and remembered Revis was on the on the field and they have Robby Anderson. Revis got overwhelmed and Anderson had 4 catches on the drive. The Jets then scored on a TD pass from McCown to Matt Forte.

From Brazil!

2nd Half

The Jets got the ball first as they started the second half with the lead. Then they put on a marathon drive…

After 5 third down conversions on one drive, the Jets finally stalled inside the 10 and they kicked a field goal to go up 24-17.

So the Chiefs got the ball with most of the 3rd quarter already gone…and they didn’t waste much time…

Jets got the ball back and immediately went to their own special WR…

After that cumulative 41 yard play, the Jets weren’t able to do much more and ended up settling for a field goal to make it 27-24. After a Chiefs punt, the Jets got the ball back and got to driving once again. This time they got some magic from Jermaine Kearse…

The Jets put together a 10 play drive but, once again, couldn’t get into the endzone. So they settled for a field goal to make it 30-24.
On the ensuing Chiefs drive, after quickly driving to the Jets 40 yard line…it was that man again…

Jets got the ball back and then had one of the craziest drives of the season. It started with two huge third down conversions.

Then things got weird…

Then, after two KC defensive stops, on third down…

Then they finally got in

But wait! There’s more! On the two-point conversions attempt, McCown couldn’t find anyone and had to throw it out of the back of the endzone…but once again…

After that craziness, Eli McGuire ran in the two point conversion and the Jets took a one score lead over Kansas City and held on after Alex Smith failed to convert on 4th down in Jets territory.

Post Game

After the game, folks were still trying to make sense of what just happened.

It was his birthday, too?!?

Me too…
