New York Jets Preseason Wrap Up: Stock up, Stock Down

Kyle Fahey with a final stock report on the New York Jets preseason

Gang Green went into their fourth and final preseason game with the power of their full offense, Josh McCown, Robby Anderson, and Bilal Powell! They ultimately walked away with a win, something they shouldn’t get used too.

Stock Up: Elijah McGuire, Austin Seferian-Jenkins, Todd Bowles

Elijah McGuire: The rookie went out and performed very well, five rushes for 56 yards and a average of 11.2 yards per rush. Not that he ever was in doubt but, McGuire solidified his roster spot with this performance. Also to note… he is the best Eli in NY, just saying.

Austin Seferian-Jenkins: ASJ ALL DAY! I’m so happy The Jet Take curse has been broken. ASJ caught a great pass from Hack for a TD, he hung on while staying inbounds and taking a hit. Im truly looking forward to his week three return.

Todd Bowles: Bowles should still be fired. He made a smart coaching decision by throwing the red flag on a questionable play and ultimately got the Jets better field position. He also made the right choice by not panicking and calling any timeouts when Philly was marching into the endzone. This limited the Eagles play calls and created a great scenario for the defense to learn from.

Stock Down: Christian Hackenberg, Marcus Murphy

Christian Hackenberg: Yes, I am fully aware he had a TD pass. CONGRATS! He made one or two nice throws but ultimately failed the night. Multiple three and outs, two fumbles (one of which was lost), and just more and more stare downs. Petty is the clear backup for the team, and if Hackenberg wasn’t a second round pick….he’d be cut.

Marcus Murphy: Nine attempts for 13 yards in no bueno. I would be surprised if he wasn’t cut by 4:00 PM EST on Saturday seeing as Bilal Powell and Elijah McGuire have their spots on lock.
