Today, we talk with Matthew Cerrone (@MatthewCerrone), founder of SNY’s Mets Blog, and his recently launched Sports Content Inc. Matt has been in sports media for over a decade and built his site from scratch.

Matt discusses the process of building up his website, partnering with SNY and what inspired him to eventually walk away from it full time to focus on his own sports media consulting business. He also discusses laying out goals, how the industry has changed and being flexible with your skill set…

I think things change so fast and technologies emerge so quickly…if you are so committed to one thing and you got in your mind ‘you are X”, it is going to be really difficult. You have to be politically and socially savvy and strategic in how you maneuver yourself through the digital content world. You have no choice.

We also go through our weekly questions with Matt, which include…

  • Best career advice you received?
  • Most valuable skill set you have?
  • One prediction about sports media industry in 2017
  • Most annoying or frustrating thing about industry/your job?
  • What is one carer orientated goal you have for the next 12 months or a skill set you want to learn?

Episode 1 with James Corbett is located here. Episode 2 with Connor Rogers is located here. Episode 3 with Brandon Thorn is located here. Please, please take the time to subscribe to our new feed here, give us a rating and let us know who you would like to see us interviewed next!
