Predicting New York Jets 2015 Schedule

Dalbin Osorio and Joe Caporoso take a futile crack at predicting the New York Jets 2015 schedule….

The NFL schedule will be announced tomorrow so our Dalbin Osorio and Joe Caporoso decided to take futile attempts at guessing it because…why not? Let’s hear your predictions!

Dalbin Osorio

Week 1: Buffalo, Monday Night Football early kickoff game
Why?: The rivalry was taken up a notch when the Bills hired Rex Ryan and almost the entire former Jets coaching staff. With the war of words between Rex Ryan and Jace Amaro, busy off-seasons with notable additions and both teams setting their sights on a playoff appearance, the NFL gets them in prime-time right out of the gate.

Week 2: at New England, Sunday Night Football
Why?: The Patriots, as defending champion, will open on Thursday night (I’m predicting they open against the Pittsburgh Steelers). If the schedule breaks like this, the Jets get New England on 10 days rest and in primetime.

Week 3: vs Washington
Why?: The Jets remain on the East Coast before their trip to London. I predict the Jets get their first look at Dante Fowler and a Robert Griffith III led offense.

Week 4: at Miami, in London
Why?: All we know right now.

Week 5: Bye
Why?: Logistics.

Week 6: at Houston
Why?: The Jets travel to Houston to take on JJ Watt, Vince Wilfork, and either the underwhelming Brian Hoyer or the intriguing Ryan Mallett.

Week 7: vs Philadelphia
Why?: A date with former Jets QB Mark Sanchez and/or Tim Tebow or a matchup with Marcus Mariota?

Week 8: at New York Giants
Why?: A “road” game against the New York Giants. Revis and Cromartie versus Beckham and Cruz? There is a tantalizing mid-season matchup.

Week 9: at Buffalo
Why?: The Jets reach the halfway point of the season with a rematch against Rex and the Bills at the Ralph.

Week 10: at Oakland
Why?: Jets have to travel to the West Coast to take on Derek Carr and potentially Amari Cooper or Leonard Williams.

Week 11: vs Cleveland
Why?: The Jets return to face, barring a trade up, Johnny Manziel or Josh McCown. The Browns defense is a good unit, but their offense leaves plenty to be desired.

Week 12: vs Tennessee
Why?: Either a match-up with Phillip Rivers, if you follow the smoke, or could it be a match-up between the Jets and the guy they could have drafted in Marcus Mariota, if they lost to Tennessee last year?

Week 13: at Indianapolis, Sunday Night Football
Why?: The Jets defense gets a crack at a much improved Colts offense with the additions of Frank Gore and Andre Johnson.

Week 14: vs Jacksonville
Why?: The Jets travel to Florida to take on Blake Bortles, Julius Thomas, and an underrated Jaguars defense.

Week 15: at Dallas
Why?: A late season trip to Jerry World awaits the Jets before two big divisional games. Revis vs Dez?

Week 16: vs New England
Why?: This one could have playoff implications for the Jets.

Week 17: vs Miami
Why?: The Jets end their season against the Dolphins and former GM Mike Tannenabum. Early prediction: Joe Philbin is fired after this game.

Full Schedule Prediction here on the TOJ Facebook Page, a few notes…

  • The Jets have not opened on the road since 2009. They seem due.
  • You can lock in a week 3 home game, the week 4 London trip and a week 5 bye, along with the AFC East match-up in week 17.
  • Pittsburgh will open the NFL season in New England.
  • Just a guess: The Jets have three prime-time games: Buffalo at MetLife, In New England and their “away” game versus the Giants.
