NimbleTV is a useful and intuitive streaming TV service. The premise is simple. If you have cable in the New York Metro area (or Chicago) then you can link your cable to the cloud and watch your channels when you aren’t at home on a smartphone, tablet or laptop (It even works on a Roku or AppleTV). The best part about this is that it’s 100% Free and no credit card information is required.
What does this have to do with Football? Well since most New York Jets games appear on CBS, FOX or NBC on Sundays, NimbleTV will allow you to catch Gang Green no matter where you are. Yes, this means anywhere in the world with a decent Internet or data connection.
I can’t tell you how many times, we get asked how fans can catch the game when they aren’t at home or are traveling on gameday. NimbleTV should be an answer to most of those fans.
The player and guide function well. Watching the game on my iPhone or iPad is easy. It also works great as a second screen at home so I can catch two games at the same time if necessary For a small price, you can even add a cloud DVR to your NimbleTV services. It starts at $4.99/mo and also enables you to unlock the family plan so you can invite 4 more people to watch the Jets with you as well. It is convenient to know that I can record all of these games and access them on any device.
It’s not a 100% perfect solution though. Right now they only support cable providers in the New York Metro (Time Warner, Cablevision, RCN and FiOS subscriptions are supported) area and Chicago (AT&T U-Verse, Xfinity and RCN are supported). So if you don’t have cable you can’t get this thing for free. You can however, sign up for NimbleTV pro and buy a completely Internet based TV solution if you were interested. Those plans start at $29.98 and you would need to give them a New York or Chicago Metro area address to access the local networks.
However, NimbleTV has said they plan to expand to more cities in the near future so hopefully more football fans will be able to link their cable accounts for free. Another thing to note is that NimbleTV will not put your entire suite of channels into the cloud for free. It is 20+ channels that include the major networks like CBS, FOX, NBC, ABC, The CW and more. But for the purposes of catching most of the Jets games, those are the only channels would need on the go. NimbleTV has said they plan on supporting more channels from your cable subscription in the future as well.
So what’s the bottom line here? It’s a fantastic free service for Jets fans to keep up with the team at all times. You have nothing to lose by signing up (NimbleTV also throws in another 10+ channels for you to enjoy on the house). So go ahead and get started by linking your cable account today!
