TOJ New York Jets Link Dump – July 23rd, 2014

Welcome to training camp! Here are a handful of links to kick off your Thursday. Stay with us for more coverage throughout day one of New York Jets practice…

– The rewards program is not the only thing that’s new for Jet fans. If you’re a season ticket holder, don’t expect to get individual, printed, paper tickets for each game. Instead, season ticket holders will receive smart cards.  (AP)

– Here are the eight biggest upgrades the Jets made in the offseason. (B/R)

– If you talk the talk, you have to walk the walk. The Jets walked the walk during Rex’s first two seasons, but they’ve been standing still ever since. He hasn’t talked as much the last couple years, but he seems to have ditched the muzzle this year — now his team has to back him up. (BB)

– Our New York Jets roster preview is finished. Here is the link to all the articles. (TOJ)

– Not Jets news, but news regarding former Jets Defensive Coordinator, current Browns head coach, Mike Pettine. While Rex will have to decide between Geno and Vick, Pettine will have to decide between Brian Hoyer and some young kid, maybe you’ve heard of him, Johnny Manziel. Pettine announced Hoyer will begin camp with the first team.

– We’ve had five years to grade Rex Ryan’s performance as a head coach, and we know he is a well-spoken coach who is able to push all the right buttons in order to get his team to overachieve (see back-to-back AFC Championship game appearances and managing to get last year’s team to 8-8). After one year as Jets GM, all we know about John Idzik is he’s very quiet and patient. After this season, we can begin to more accurately judge him based on his success (or lack their of) in putting the right pieces into place. (ESPN)
