With the 210th pick in the 2014 NFL Draft the New York Jets selected Ik Enemkpali, Linebacker, Louisiana Tech.

The Jets continue to address linebacker late in the draft with Louisiana Tech pass rusher, Ik Enemkpali.

Combine Numbers

  • Height: 6’1″
  • Weight: 261 lbs
  • Arm Length: 33 1/8″
  • Hands: 9 3/4″
  • 40: 5.01 seconds
  • Vertical Jump: 34 inches
  • Bench Press: 28 reps (tied with Jeremiah George)

A thick, violent athlete. Extremely physical and high motor. Loves the game and lives in the film room. Uses leverage and power well to find his way into the back field.

Athleticism is hampered by an overly muscular build. Very stiff. His pass rush repertoire is lacking and often fails to utilize his impressive power coming out of a speed rush.  Awareness and anticipation are not ideal.

The New York Jets waited until round six to address the outside linebacker position. Enemkpali is not a stelar prospect, but that is to be expected in the sixth round. However, he provides solid depth at linebacker and, with some help from NFL trainers and the further development of his pass rush moves, could find a way to contribute. His lack of speed will limit him on special teams but he clearly has some natural ability and could find a role setting the edge, a la Garrett McIntyre.
