I’m coming off a good week here with my NFL Gambling column and I’m just about even on the season, which is pretty darn good considering how terribly I started. This is a tough week of games to predict here, but there are a couple I really like. One thing is for sure, however: Expect the unexpected. That’s just the way the NFL works at this point in the season, so don’t be surprised to see some crazy stuff today…
Chargers +10 @ Broncos – Another easy Thursday night game. Division rivalry, cold weather, Broncos off a huge win. It all added up to a Chargers cover. Never did I think they’d win outright, but cover 10 no problem. Oh, and this is where I say this pick was put out on Twitter, as usual.
Giants +7.5 vs. Seahawks – One of my favorite picks this week is… (gulp)… the New York Football Giants. Just typing that makes me reconsider the pick a little bit, but with nothing left to play for this season, this is the Giants’ Super Bowl. For the Seahawks, it’s just another regular game against a crappy opponent. It has letdown written all over it, and I wouldn’t be shocked if the Giants win outright.Browns +1 vs. Bears – Another game I absolutely love. The Browns have been really playing well the last few weeks, despite the lack of wins, and I think they’re going to pull this one out. Jay Cutler is coming back from his injury and is sure to show some rust against this underrated Cleveland defense. Also, Josh Gordon. Josh Gordon. Josh Gordon. Josh Gordon. Take the Josh Gordon’s.
Texans +4.5 @ Colts – The Colts stink.
Bills -2 @ Jaguars – Flip a coin.
Patriots +2 @ Dolphins – Somehow, this line has moved a solid FOUR points in the last two days. I know the Pats are without Gronk and they historically struggle in Miami, but come the hell on. It’s the Dolphins! It’s Tom Brady! It’s December! Pats all day.Eagles -6 @ Vikings – Don’t overthink things here. Matt Cassell in. Adrian Peterson out. Eagles roll.
Falcons -6 vs. Redskins – Brilliant strategy by Washington to take the focus off everyone saying they should change their name by just becoming the biggest joke team in the entire NFL. Kudos, Daniel Snyder and Mike Shanahan!
Bucs +4.5 vs. 49ers – Yes, I’m taking legendary coach Greg Schiano against the 49ers. Something tells me I will regret this.
Chiefs -4.5 @ Raiders – Usually when it seems too good to be true like this, it is. I don’t care, I’m still taking the Chiefs.Panthers -11 vs. Jets – My strategy of picking against the Jets here only to see them win turned out great last week. I’ll make the sacrifice here and do the same agains, even though I do think they’ll cover this game.
Cowboys -6 vs. Packers – The Packers are just terrible without Rodgers. Terrible, terrible, terrible.
Rams +6 vs. Saints – I could absolutely see the Saints laying an egg in St. Louis. I do think they’ll win still, but it will be much closer than you think.
Titans +3 vs. Cardinals – Titans win outright.
Steelers +3 vs. Bengals – Please understand, I think the Steelers are a crappy team. But I’m not taking Andy Dalton in a huge game on the road in Pittsburgh, in what is sure to be a freezing temperatures under any circumstances. Take the points.
Lions -6 vs. Ravens – The Lions are due for a monster game. Calvin Johnson is going to put up ridiculous stats in this one I bet. I’m laying the points as the Lions roll.
