Ok, so week 1 didn’t exactly go as planned as the games I liked the most let me down. The Giants and Panthers really let me down with late cover blowing, as DeAngelo Williams fumbled late inside the 20 and Eli Manning threw a pick 6. Oh well, time to bounce back here in week 2. Let’s get to it.
Jets +12.5 @ Patriots – 1 for 1 this week! Things are turning around!
Rams +6.5 @ Falcons – I don’t necessarily think the Rams are good or anything, but right now I don’t think the Falcons are too great either. Losing Roddy White caused them all sorts of problems against the crappy Saints defense, and while they should put up enough to beat the Rams, I think it will be inside 6.5. Expect Steven Jackson to have a big game against his former team, though.
Panthers -3 @ Bills – The Panthers defense looks like it might be a force this year, and they’re going to do everything they can to take away the running game like they did last week against Seattle. Buffalo hung tough against the Pats last week and nearly won, but this week I expect them to get beat fairly easily.
Bears -6 vs. Vikings – This is your teaser team of the week. Christian Ponder going on the road against the Bears stingy defense is not going to be pretty. Chicago should cover 6 easy, but throwing them into a 2 team teaser which another team can’t hurt.
Packers -7.5 vs. Redskins – Seems like a lot of points, but after watching Washington play on Monday night it really isn’t. You can’t back Washington until you see RG3 start to resemble the player everyone thinks he is. Take the Pack to bounce back after their tough loss in San Francisco. In fact, this could be a nice teaser combo with the Bears.
Dolphins +2.5 @ Colts – The Colts really aren’t very impressive for a team that made the playoffs last year and has Andrew Luck at the helm. The playcalling last week was extremely questionable and they didn’t let Luck loose, which was odd. Dolphins cover and win outright.
Chiefs -3 vs. Cowboys – KC has one of the best home fields in football, and the Cowboys are… the Cowboys. The Giants went out of their way to try and let the Cowboys run away with their game last week but Dallas just refused. The Cowboys are the same team they have been for the past 10 years. They’ll lose this game, probably in comical fashion
Eagles -7.5 vs. Chargers – This spread is too high thanks to everyone watching the Eagles insanely fun new offense in action in prime time last week, but it doesn’t matter. The Chargers are traveling cross country on a short week, and they’re still the Chargers, which is perhaps the biggest thing going against them of them all.
Ravens -6.5 vs. Browns – The Browns have a good looking defense, but my God is Brandon Weeden atrocious. The Ravens had 3 extra days to prepare for this game and it’s their home opener after winning last season’s Super Bowl. This could get ugly, and is another nice teaser candidate.
Titans +9 @ Texans – Too many points.
Cardinals +1 vs. Lions – I don’t think the Lions should be favored against anybody on the road until they prove it. The Cards are not bad, and they should pull this one out. If Larry Fitzgerald sits though, all bets are off.
Bucs +3.5 vs. Saints – After watching the Bucs last week, EVERYONE is going to be on the Saints this game, which is a major red flag. Yes, the Bucs are a complete dumpster fire of a team coached by a joke of a man, but the Saints always have trouble in Tampa Bay and outdoors in general. This is going to be close and I expect the Bucs to cover. Even though they suck.
Jaguars +5.5 @ Raiders – I uhh… don’t have much to say about this one.
Giants +4.5 vs. Broncos – After fumbling twice, costing his team the game, then showing true class b attacking his own fans on twitter, I expect David Wilson to actually bounce back and play well. Actually, I expect all of the Giants to play well, and they might actually pull this one out and win…. (thinking)…. Nah, no they won’t. But it will be close.
Seahawks -3 vs. 49ers – Seattle has the best home field in all of football and it isn’t even close. Plus, the Seahawks are going to be pumping themselves full of so many PED’s that we may see an on field murder in this one. It will be closer and higher scoring than many expect, but the Hawks will pull it out and cover, 30-24.
Steelers +7 @ Bengals – I think the Steelers stink, but I also think the Bengals are overrated. Cincy will win, but the Steelers have a lot of pride and I think they’ll keep this one close.
Best Bets – Rams +6.5, Panthers -2.5, Ravens -6.5, Seahawks -3, Giants +4.5
Teaser of the Week – 2 Team / 6 point: Bears PK, Ravens -0.
Last week: 6-9-1, Best Bets: 1-4
