I could not listen to Zig just spewing the same crap about the Jets from the national media.

The national media lacks focus. They cannot possibly watch all the preseason games nevermind track all the 90 players on any roster. They miss bad, marginal players getting better; they notice big names and recent high draft picks and see all the impact on a team coming from them. They cannot possibly know who Hill or Gates are, how bad they were, and how much they have improved. All they see is an injured Holmes as the only established receiver on the roster. That is why they rate the Jets so low: to them, we are like the Lions only with Holmes instead of Megatron and an unclear Smith/Sanchez combo instead of Stafford.

The only thing I would note from the broadcast is that Geno may have thrown a lot of passes in college, but he only threw something like 60 percent of the time. WVU relied a lot on the run, both to set up the offense and to continue moving the chains. This is a good thing, as it fits Marty’s preferences, but it does mean that we need to run better than we have in the preseason.
