Revis to the Patriots is not funny
The Daily News published an image of Darrelle Revis in a Pats jersey last week. As it made an extreme point of what could happen if #24 remains a Jet through 2013 and was free to choose his own team in 2014. Not funny.
Certain photos are simply tasteless, and serve no purpose other than to shock and sell papers. Revis in Patriot blue is one of those, We are still waking up in cold sweats at the thought of that horrific image.
What Really Scares Us…
Terry Bradway mentioned that the “girlfriend” saga of Manti T’eo “has to scare you a little bit.” Meaning that the Jets won’t draft him now at 9.
Forget T’eo. What scares us more is the notion of Terry Bradway still having a major say in things. This is the guy who as GM, once traded a first round pick for nothing TE Doug Jolley, then drafted a kicker in the second round.
New GM John Idzik needs to take over the draft show and have the final say. Period. While keeping draft day big wigs and leftover staffers from the old regime busy with plenty of coffee runs to Dunkin Donuts.
By the way, the last time the Jets were scared off by alarming first round-worthy behavior, the Kotite clan selected Kyle Brady over Warren Sapp. Just saying…
If This Was Last Season., She’d Already Be A Jet
If this was 2012, the Jets would have signed female kicker Lauren Silberman this weekend. As she made history for the being the first woman to tryout for the NFL, only to be forced into an early exit due to injury. The one positive to come out of the Tim Tebow mistake is that the Jets will think twice from now on, before making a quick hyped up splash for no reason.
It’s Not The 52 Million, It is the W’s
For those wondering about Mark Sanchez’s hefty contract that he apparently won’t restructure, imagine what he could have made had the Jets started off faster in Pittsburgh in the AFC Championship game two years ago.
Is Joe Flacco worth the 52 mil guaranteed he will receive up front? Not to us. The Ravens would have to explain to the fan base how it lost him if they didn’t pay him though. He’s worth that ludicrous sum to their club.
In this transitional sports time of spring training, and pre March Madness we expect the local
media to lean on the Jets as they approach free agency this week whenever they can. Place your bets.
We will be the bookies.
The over under for Jets news dominating the back page of the News and Post from now until Sunday, is 4 1/2. We’ll take the over.
